Comenity Dental First / product change

Ok, so I have a Comenity Dental First account ($2500) I unknowingly was approved for while receiving a consultation at Aspen dental. (It's a long story) The account has activity from an unauthorized charge from said clinic that was later cleared up, so technically there's been activity on the account. Here's my situation. I can't imagine a scenario where I'll have a need for this account. Also, I was told by a Comenity account rep that this account could only be used at Aspen Dental. Does Comenity offer product changes where I could move the available credit to a different card? I asked the CSR about this when we were clearing up the unauthorized charge, but he said I'd need to talk to someone from a different dept. The only other Comenity account I have is a Good Sam store card ($400) that popped up as I was checking out for a small purchase on their website. Any suggestions?

Hey @SeeSaw! Welcome to the forums! Are you still going to Aspen Dental if so use the Dental First while you're at Aspen and then you have activity on it.. Comenity does not offer product changes on their card products as they are brand specific. An example you can't product change a DentalFirst Card to a BJ's Card. Worst case they close it what other cards do you have and what are their ages? How old is the DentalFirst Card?

Re: Comenity Dental First / product change

The Dental first account is a little less than a year old. The account manager at Aspen opened the account without my permission in anticipation that I would agree to have a dental procedure performed in their clinic. After I decided to get a second opinion, I realized that they were going to overcharge me. It would be another month or two before I realized that the account had been opened. I could use that account for routine cleaning or other minor things to keep some activity on the account. I travel alot, and there are Aspen clinics everywhere should I ever need one. My only gripe is that I can't use this "dental" finance account anywhere other than Aspen. They aren't the most honest people to deal with.

Re: Comenity Dental First / product change

It's not that old so letting them close it wouldn't be the worst thing ever. While I will agree it sucks that they wrongly opened the account without your permission it is now open and you have already taken the HP for it. I would do what you said and use it for routine cleaning and other minor things to keep it active. If you want a good medical, dental, vet card I would recommend CareCredit from Synchrony Bank. I see how annoying it is to have to use a card at the place that opened it not per your request if you don't want to go their again then call Comenity up and close it.
