This is not about tip toeing around a lender.
The OP was 6/24 but was still approved for a Chase card. He added 6 cards from other lenders in less than 3 months to take him to 13/24, then applied for two more Chase cards simultaneously. That's not behavior that any lender will tolerate; in fact many others would have shut him down earlier.
I disagree with the broad brush you’re using to paint all lenders with. There are plenty of people (including on the forum) that are at, or over, 13/24 and haven’t seen any AA. New accounts alone is not a good predictor of AA from *most* lenders. The fact is, Chase is very sensitive and if you’re in the practice of opening a bunch of accounts (for whatever reason) they should be excluded from your wallet. Heck, there are a bunch of other reasons why they are sensitive too.
Yikes - as someone who is "skating on thin ice" with Chase right now, this thread makes me nervous. If it wasn't for others in this forum warning me against it, I'd probably have my 2 new Chase cards shut down by now, too.
I was pre-qual for 3 chase cards about 2 weeks ago, and applied for the CSP. Was honestly shocked that they approved it (with a rather high limit) considering my credit history is less that stellar, including a settled chargeoff from another Chase credit card only 2 years ago. When I got the approval, I pondered applying for the CFU that I was also pre-qual for, and thought about it for a couple days (literally 2 days) and then pulled the trigger. Got that one, too. Sounds like if I had done it the same day, both cards would be toast. Then, (as I wrote another thread about) I pondered riding this recent trend of good luck and applying for a Amazon Prime card with Chase. Thank God, members here talked me out of it. That would have been a guaranteed nuke on all 3 cards.
Now after reading this thread, I'm nervous that even if I don't apply for anything new, the UW's may still shut me down. Biting my nails here...

Total SL: $78kAck! I said it was 2 days between apps, but I just looked at my "application received" emails and apparently I didn't apply for them 2 days apart, I applied for them 2 HOURS apart!
It's been 11 days since approval. Haven't even had a chance to activate the cards yet since I've been out of the country.

Total SL: $78k

There's nothing wrong with being LOL/24, however, plenty of lenders will reject applications where they see lots of new accounts on the app. This is especially true if the app goes to manual UW. The real takeaway here is that the OP ran afoul of a trigger that automatically flagged an account for review by simultaneously apping for 2 cards. If you are in a situation like 13/24 with 6 new accounts in the past few months, you should avoid situations where you have human eyeballs looking at your CR.
Also, another point to make is that there are not many lenders that will tolerate 2 simultaneous card apps even if it's not Chase.

I've done this with Chase specifically back in 6/2017 2 cards back to back and they're still open along with 1 more 12/2017 for a total of 72K now. On the flip side BOA didn't like 2 apps awhile back but, their denial was based on exposure with them currently at 65K on a single CC which could have been a quick phone call to shift from CL from there to the new apps but, didn't bother to do that at the time as I had a short list to run down on cards to get.
In the past year I've run into 2 lenders whining about anything/24 Cap1 / Barclays cited it on a secondary app but, the primary app for Uber was instant approved for 11K and bumped to 25K w/ a phone call.
So, blanket statements should be more of a YMMV than a "Fact"

What I said was not a blanket statement. "Not many lenders" is not the same thing as "no lender". And lender policies do change. Just because something worked for you 2 years ago doesn't mean it will still work. Chase's 5/24 rule didn't apply to many of their cobranded cards until late last year for instance.
But different opinions aside, I shouldn't think that anyone would argue that 2 simultaneous apps are ordinary or commonplace. YMMV is fine and all, but let's not pretend that doing something like that won't raise some eyebrows even if you can skate by every once in a blue moon. YMMV cannot be construed as "there's a fair chance".
Thanks for sharing your story, OP. A good cautionary tale. It really does sound like the back-to-back applications triggered a manual review after the fact.
Just so that we're not all bashing Chase and causing undue panic, my own story is that I got a CSP via green checkmark being LOL/24 on 01/01/2017 (a slightly inebriated rage-app, being approved for $12,000 minutes after being denied a CLI on my Freedom card which had been open for 10 years). I opened a Slate card through a green checkmark offer a few months later, being even more LOL/24 (it's been a while, I did a CL reshuffling between my 3 cards, and the account has since been closed after the BT was paid off, but I want to say that approval was for around $5k). I then opened another 6 credit card accounts over the next 6 months. That CSP was product changed to a CSR last year, and no shut down from Chase at all.
Fast forward 2 years and I got a Freedom Unlimited via green checkmark just under 3 months ago, and very soon after getting a $14k HP CLI on my CSR. Still LOL/24 and I opened 2 additional credit cards over the next 6 weeks. Again, no shut down nor do I at all expect one. Every credit profile is different, and I know mine is certainly able to take quite a bit more abuse than many others here, but as long as new applications aren't overboard and no one runs afoul of rules like "x Chase cards in x days/months," generally everything will be okay. With Chase, AA can generally be understood.

You added 7 cards in two months, then applied for two Chase cards?
Please tell me I read that wrong
I am hoping the pro+ dell warranty will cover all the soda that you just helped me spray over my brand new 9380
