I am trying to confirm from the community if this is the normal procedure for Barclays regarding their luv button and a CLI. In another thread the poster stated that they received numerous denials from barclays which were all sp, but when they finally got a cli it was a hp. I am willing to hit the button if it is only a hp on approval if that is how they work. Can anyone chime in on this?
I have never hear or seen anything about this. I think everybody would do it if there is a sp if not approved. But I might be wrong?
As far as I know (and I haven't seen any recent DPs), it'll be a HP. I'd be the guinea pig for you, but I don't want to draw any Barclays attention (inviting them to AR with a CLI request) to myself. I've been a busy credit seeking dude these past few weeks.

You have been given absolutely false information. Every CLI pull on the Barclays luv button is a HARD PULL. I learned this the hard way.

Yeah SouthJamaica is correct... all Barclay CLI requests at this time are HPs although in the past we were able to call their CSR then be connected to their retention department and asked for current offers either for APR reduction and/or SP CLIs that were verbally confirmed by analysts back then. They stopped doing that for over a year now as far as I know.
I had success less than three months ago through retentions: https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Approvals/Barclay-SP-CLI-x2-and-0-APR-Offer/m-p/5198286
I've requested 2 CLIs both of which were denied but never incurred a HP. The letter used the FICO score provided on their site at that time.

I had two cards(Rewards, Sallie Mae) with Barclays for a couple of years and opened MANY other accounts. I guessed they didn't like that. When I tried for a third card(Cash Forward) and other CLIs, I would get auto-denied without a hard pull. Finally, I applied for the Uber(thinking I'd get denied without a hardpull), I was approved with a hard pull on Transunion.

And I will just throw in there that in addition to it being a HP, the results are nothing like BOA's old HP's. They have always been pretty stingy with me. Good luck.
