Consumer Cards

Hi everyone,

Last week I decided to get my first store consumer card from Saks to bring in diversity to my credit history. I was wondering how would this affect my score or improve? Should I just treat this like it was an ordinary credit card? Thank you very much!

Re: Consumer Cards

FICO likes to see a mix of credit. Adding your first charge card (store in your case) will help. You may see a decrease when it reports but you'll be better off 4-6 months out.

Re: Consumer Cards

I heard consumer cards arent worth much points compared to credit cards. Is that true? Thanks

Re: Consumer Cards

True. Revolving weighs more.
