I requested a contactless SPG, too. So even if it doesn't go on Platinum it should go on SPG.

From the way he described his computer menu, though, it sounded like it was an option on metal Platinums. At least, he asked if I had a metal Platinum when going through the card replacement menu. I suppose he didn't explicitly say the new contactless card would be metal.

Contactless Platinum cards are certainly an option, but they are a little lighter and have a few differences from the regular Platinum card.  A Google search for flyertalk american express post204 should bring up photos.

Also as a warning, it took several attempts to get contactless on one of my AmEx cards so don't be surprised if you have to call them up again. It seems like they don't get many requests for it or something.

Since none of my cards offer a contactless option, I simply use my phone (Samsung Pay) to achieve the same result.

For others who look...seeing as the thread is still active but the wiki has not been updated in a year, that would suggest the wiki contents are still true for newly printed cards.

 I figured that might be possible, so I requested it on two cards only (out of five Amex cards, I think four or five of which offer it). I'll limit the number of things that can change at the same time.

I see they let people request replacement cards online...but I didn't see "add contactless" as one of the listed reasons...even though "metal card" was. It seems inefficient to have such a tool but then not include contactless requests as a useful feature.

Or maybe I would have found it if I had navigated through some sort of sub-menu? It certainly wasn't readily visible.

I might potentially use a phone as a primary means of payment, but batteries can fail and apps can have problems. I would want contactless as a feature on the physical card when possible.

I don't know much about Huawei or that particular product, but I'd guess most people with any interest in a smartwatch have a NFC-capable phone by now.

How many folks do or do not have a smartphone with NFC capability is not my guess or even relative to my point. The intention in my statement was to inform those who would find such information useful. Additionally, some folks don't carry their phone, and choose to wear a smartwatch that has talk/text/data and NFC capability instead. #ManyOptions
