No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I sent a SM recently asking about updates to the feature (my card has it, but doesn't ask for a PIN when tapping >$50 like some other countries' cards do) and they claimed that the card doesn't have it. Can anyone who's gotten a replacement card from them recently confirm whether that's the case? There should either be "PayPass" and/or the sideways wifi symbol somewhere on the card if it's still there.
Thanks in advance!
Diners has PayPass. For sure.
In February, I used it several times at a Starbucks in the Netherlands that had a contactless symbol, just to prove I could.
I use it at a local drugstore chain, where I am often conflicted... should I use the Diners PayPass, my AMEX SPG Contactless, or Apple Pay?
I use it at work where the vending machine has the sideways network symbol thing, again, because it's there.
I sent an email to the grocery store nearby, who accepts ApplePay, and sometimes the AMEX Contactless, but not PayPass, to ask them to add PayPass, so I can be conflicted about which technology to use there as well.
I have the original card from late 2014, so if they are saying the newer replacement cards do not have PayPass, I will be quite sad.
If they are saying they don't have a PIN with PayPass, pfft. don't care.

They even went as far as to say that it'll decline if the merchant tries to run the card as PayPass, so it sounds like it's going away. There's still a chance that the CS person's mistaken though.
(BTW it's not really the PIN thing I'm all that concerned about, it's the fact that the PayPass feature might not work on European mass transit because the card's using an older version. Whereas PIN for >$50 is a good indication that it supports the correct version of PayPass.)
Count me skeptical that PayPass is removed from Diners.

Maybe not, but just in case, I'm not going to request a new card before my current one expires. ![]()
It seems to mee all the issuers are moving away from contactless credit cards.

In a country where most businesses still take the card from you and swipe/insert it themselves, it's not exactly going to get much use. And this doesn't even take into account how much of an (unfairly) bad reputation the technology has in general either.
