Convert Freedom to Mileage Explorer?

I thought I was done applying for cards until after my home purchase next year....and like clockwork Chase sent me the 50k Mileage Plus Explorer offer in the mail.   I was approved for Chase Freedom last week but haven't gotten the card yet.   Is it possible Chase would convert my unissued Freedom to a Mileage Explorer and honor the targeted 50k offer if I complete the spend?

Re: Convert Freedom to Mileage Explorer?

Most likely no, but you could always ask. Generally, United cards cannot be converted to non-United cards, and vice-versa.

+1. You'll probably run-up against the issue of cobranded vs non-cobranded cards.

The other thing to consider is that when you PC, you probably won't get the signup bonus. If you want the United card you should apply for it, take the signup bonus, close your Freedom and consolidate the CLs.

American Express Platinum (NPSL) || Bank of America Privileges with Travel Rewards Visa Signature - $23,200 CL

Re: Convert Freedom to Mileage Explorer?

AFAIK you will not be able to PC from Freedom to Explorer and they will not use the same HP. If you really want the targeted offer, it will be a new app.

Re: Convert Freedom to Mileage Explorer?

Thanks for wisdom everyone.   I'll wait until the 30 days has passed and get the United MP Explorer app in before the deadline on the offer.   Thanks.

Re: Convert Freedom to Mileage Explorer?

Good luck!

FWIW, my DH apped for the Explorer and then 2 weeks later the CSP. Both instantly approved $6k and $8k CL's

Re: Convert Freedom to Mileage Explorer?

I got this same offer too (again). They are really trying to get me to come out of the Garden...

I'd go ahead and App for it if you want it, but don't close the Freedom, as that would not accomplish anything.
