Convert True Earnings to BCE?

Hey all,

My husband has an Amex True Earnings card that we use a lot, but we've recently been couponing and found that by shopping the sales, we can actually get better prices on groceries outside of Costco, so we decided to cancel our membership. However, I know his Amex account will be closed if we cancel, so I want to see if anyone has had success converting their True Earnings to a different product.

My husband hates calling them, so I thought I'd check with MyFico before I make him call! Smiley Happy

Off topic, but can you PM me info on how to get started with couponing? Thanks!

Everything i've read indicated that Costco TE to any other AMEX card is a no go as of right now.

I haven't heard of anyone PCing from TE to BCE.   That doesn't mean it can't be done, but I haven't heard about it.

If you can't PC it (and maybe you should consider this even if you can), DH could just apply for a new BCE and reallocate the CL from the TE to the BCE (once BCE has been open for 61 days).  Depending on his MSD, getting a whole new AMEX might improve his AAoA.

Start: 619 (TU08, 9/2013) | Current: 806 (TU08, 6/06/24)

Re: Convert True Earnings to BCE?

I've read in the past a bajilion times that you can't PC the co-branded TE card because you have to be a Costco member to have it...or something along those lines

But with the whole change in Canada Costco, that might change in the US and things could get interesting.

Re: Convert True Earnings to BCE?

Addressing the premise of the question for a second, even if you can coupon your way to groceries cheaper than Costco, you will still be buying gas, won't you? For me at least, the gas savings alone pay for my Costco membership, and probably a few times over with the 3% back on the TE for gas (at Costco gas AND standalone gas stations). Even if you move your grocery shopping elsewhere, it may be a good idea to hang onto a membership and the TE card just for the gas.
