I have no fico score and no debt with Transunion of 644 and Eq at 645. Is it possible to get a store card yet? I just started my credit journey with capital one. I have one pif showing and 4% utilization. I was told to sit on the CO for 6 months before applying anywhere.

what you may not be understanding is the OP has a 1.5%cap1 card. why on earth get another right now?haha

To combine limits in 6 months and start his journey with higher limit approvals (Limits beget limits), and to show he can handle multiple accounts. IMO a closed bank card looks better on my reports than an open store card.

OK OK peeps.....lets not turn this thread into something personal....lets stay on track.

OP......It is a known thing that the new FICO scoring models do take into consideration having both major and retail cards. You could add a store card to your "mix of credit", and then as your history and scores improve, try your hand at another major card.

Re: Could I qualify for a store card yet?

OP, you might consider a fingerhut account. When you are establishing or reestablishing credit, you may have to start small, and the responses on how to best do this are as varied as the posters here :-) If you shop in stores where a card is offered, great. I wouldn't get one just for the sake of having one just yet though. The benefit of a 2nd capital one card is that in 6 months of responsible use, you can grow the limits on both, then combine for one card with the higher limit. It doesn't necessarily mean you are married to Capital One forever, just dating for a year or so.
