If you say no cc is worth a fee you probably have not had a BK. There are many things you can't do without a cc (including rent a car) so the fees serve their purpose and you can work your way out of a situation and get rid of them. I still have to have CAP ONE delete my fee and it's been 7 years.
As far as CAPONE is concerned I started out with 200 a/f and deposit.
I am now at 5400 and they waive my fee. They sent back the deposit years ago. That is what a BK will do to you.
If you're having problems call 800-889-9939. They are really good about helping out.
Back in the days when my credit was really bad I had Capitol 1 card which was stuck at $300 and $50 yearly fee. I always paid on time and util was high though. I had asked for a CLI several times and was denied but they did offer me another card at $300 with another $50 yearly fee. I was so mad I closed the card when I started DMP and swore I would never deal with them again.
LOL They seem to have adobted the same view towards me when last year for fun I went to see if I had any pre-aprovals from them on their website. I was kinda hoping they would send me one so I could "modify" the application and send it back to them. Just as well, less stress.
consider the benefits of reapp and combining cap1. otherwise, consider closing b4 fee due, unless they waive it.
when you've outgrown it, ditch the orchard b4 fee due (you will keep the age of acct. for about 10 years. remember you may be able to get the lost util back via cli's from boa and discover).
with 2 heavy weight prime cards w/ decent limits, it's high time to think seriously about permanently setting your fee cards free!

i have these other cards/bal/age
Orchard bank $1000 (5 years and annual fee)
HSBC Gateway $900 (1 year, financed my laptop, will never use this again and it will likely close on me)
Discover $4000 (less than a year)
Bank of America $3000 (less than a year)
i'm not so much worried of losing my available credit as i am the age of my accounts. What would you guys do?

A lender makes money on each transaction and it should be enough.
On cc fees:
too much is never enough

Although others have mentioned this fact, I want to reiterate that canceling your card will not immediately affect your average age of accounts, as the account is included for ten years after its cancelation. However, it will affect your total credit available and utilization (if you show balances when your statement cuts).
I agree, you have some nice cards... Have you tried to get CLI's? If you have and it's be SIX years and still at $500, it doesn't seem like it's going to do anything... I'm frustrated with my $500 Capital One and I've had it less than one year, I have a $5000 Capital One that I got when I was 20 ran up the balance and all I want to do more than anything in my little credit world is pay that thing off!
At least your Orchard card is only a year behind in age

Have you tried the back door numbers? I had a $500 Cap 1 card for nearly 9 and a half years, no annual fee, but they would never give me a CLI any time I asked. The only reason I hadn't closed it is because it is my oldest opened account. I had 1 gas card that was opened about 6 months before the Cap1, but I closed it in 2003.
I finally called the backdoor number earlier this month and got a 15K CLI, I was told without a hard pull. Perhaps calling the backdoor number will at least get them to waive the AF.
