@MeredithLepore  The link will not open in Firefox, Edge, Chrome, nor Andriod. Partner in the FD tried Safari. You could say you read on a site blah blah blah and remove the URL (Link). Just isnt working. Original post top right 3 dots. Edit.

While that is what the text says, OPs link is actually linked to the invalid %20https//www.credello.com/financial-resources/trending/you-used-credit-cards-wrong-whole-time/

which is why it doesn't work in any browser.

You are right, it looks like the browsers (at least Edge and Chrome) decide that means %20https//www.credello.com/financial-resources/trending/you-used-credit-cards-wrong-whole-time/ and then fail to find that for obvious reasons

Be vaguely interesting (but very O/T!) to know why that mapping is made!

Re: Credit Card Benefits - Am I missing something?

Personally, it's all about cash back for me.  Cash is king.  Spend it/save it as you like.  I don't travel much but if I did, I'll take the cash from my savings account to pay for it that I earned from cash back.  The other feature I don't use a lot but am always glad is there when I need it is the ability to dispute charges.  Hasn't happened a lot but there have been a few times that I had problems with a service or product and couldn't work it out with the seller.  I saw people list safety and I guess what they mean is as opposed to carrying around cash?  At least cash doesn't come with the risk of someone stealing your CC info.  So, I don't care about that too much.  The other perks I have just basically written off since I got in the CC game is stuff like price guarantee, warranty extensions, cell phone coverage, etc.  Maybe it's the cynic in me but I just assume that getting a CC company to pay out on these things would be impossible or too much work.  I could be wrong.  So, yeah, just give me cash back, as much of it as possible, and I am happy.  Smiley Very Happy

In the overall scheme of things, yeah, it's not a lot of money.  A bad swing in the market in just one day could decrease your retirement portfolio by more than the CB you earned all year.  But hey, it's free money and it's fun to strategically maximize CB returns (for some of us, anyway).  Smiley Happy

Re: Credit Card Benefits - Am I missing something?

The Member Reward points that I received as a Sign-Up Bonus from my AMEX Platinum card was the best sign-up bonus that I have ever received on any card. My focus is solely on collecting points that can be used for hotels and airlines, regardless of annual fees. I've stayed at some absolutely fantastic hotels using them.

Edit: I'm now slowly closing out all of my non-travel cards.

Right, but that doesn't work for "aspirational" travel, which may not be your thing anyway.    The point about travel rewards is that with a reasonable amount of spend, you may be able to book a first-class suite trans-oceanic flight that costs, if you were to buy it, $25K.  This takes a large amount of money to earn cash-back, even at 5% on everything.

So, if you want that, and don't have a huge disposable income, travel rewards is the way to go.

Completely understood.  I just don't know too many people that are taking $25k flights but if they exist, I'm sure they are on this forum!  Smiley Very Happy
