Credit Card Reporting Time

Does anyone have information on Amex reporting time? I plan to pay 90% of my balance, in hopes of bumping my score from 585 to 620. Any suggestions are appreciated, Thanks!

Usually they report as of the closing date (mine all do), but I have heard that some use a different date.  Also, be aware that AMEX reports two months behind for some mysterious reason.

TU 791 02/11/2013, EQ 800 1/29/2011 , EX Plus FAKO 812, EX Vantage Score 955 3/19/2010 wife's EQ 9/23/2009 803
EX always was my highest when we could pull all three

GEMB is slow to report a 0 balance but if you charge say $18, they are all over the CRAs.

Re: Credit Card Reporting Time

For me, if AMEX don't report right I won't use the card. That's the way how I treat AMEX..I know AMEX always report one month behind..Visa and MC are always reported on time every month...

Re: Credit Card Reporting Time

Most HSBC issued cards (including Orchard and Household) report at the end of the calendar month. Some report on the statement date. This is very anomalous behavior but important to know if you have an HSBC card.

Yeah... I need to make sure I have a few dollars on my HSBC Best Buy MC at the end of each month to keep a 1-3% utilization to optimize my score.

Whether or not AMEX reports 'right' is in your own mind.  Yes, they report one month behind, but for the overwhelming majority of people that is immaterial.  Unless you are in the market for credit at a particular moment and want the highest score possible it doesn't matter if AMEX is a month behind or not, it all averages out in the long run.  It's an example of worrying about something that a) can't be changed and b) doesn't mean much.

Re: Credit Card Reporting Time

Does the 1 to 2 month lag apply to bank issued amex cards as well?

Just wondering since I paid off my entire balance on my BoA amex, and it was a huge chunk of my utilization.
