I've never known Lowe''s, Walmart, or the Amazon store card to update mid-cycle unless the balance was paid off. And between me, hubby, and my mom we have 3 Lowe's, 3 Walmart, and 2 Amazon cards.

I haven't ever heard of any Synchrony backed cards updating mid-cycle.

Re: Credit Cards that Update with Zero Balance Mid-Cycle

I can confirm from first hand experience that Chase ALWAYS updates ANYTIME u pay off your card balance to $0 regardless of it being cobranded or branded. I have a Marriott, Hyatt, Ritz Carlton, AARP & Freedom and they always update to the bureaus the following day after payoff. Secondly, SYNCB tends to do mid-cycle updates with the Lowes and Amazon card but in my case say I posted a $0 statement balance then made charges later, somehow the new charges makes it way to my report at some point.

Macy's AMEX $47,000| Citi $13,000| CapOne $18,000| Chase $25,000| SYNCB $53,000| Fidelity $7800| Discover $3,000| NASA FCU $3,500| BestBuy $6,100| Barclay $4,400| TD Bank $1,000|

Comenity:

  • Williams-Sonoma - Flat out refused. I told them that Comenity had done it for Wayfair customers, that didn't seem to make a difference. Made a slight change to my address, no change 4 days later.
  • Crate & Barrel - Also said no, floated the Wayfair experience, still flat out refused. Updated my address, but doesn't seem to have had any effect.

-- I'd be curious to speak with the person who had success with Wayfair how they did it.

American Express:

  • BCE - Obliged and showed up on Experian 1 day later.

Bank of America:

  • 1-2-3 Cash Rewards - Again, a flat no. The rep said that they are only allowed to update midcycle if there is something inaccurate, or the balance that was reported contained charges that are in dispute.

Target:

  • RedCard - First rep I spoke to said no, it would update on the 15th. Called the other number (the 'general credit questions' one); rp said that I had an update for the day I called, but the wording was super unclear. It's not my statement date (which will be 6/14), but I did change my address the night before to try to trigger one. However, no update seems to have happened 4 days later.

+1

Will update the original post when I get back to the PC.

Have we seen any datapoints on Citi or Bank of America?  6 of my 12 cards are with one of these two issuers.  Since I may be doing a mortgage in late summer or fall, I'd love to know if anyone has experience with these two.

I am guessing that a lot of other people might want to know about it too, since these are big issuers.

I'm actually looking for data points regarding Citi ... has anyone had experience with Citi doing a mid-cycle balance update?

Seems that Citi flatly will not update mid-cycle, even once the balance has been brought to $0.  That was my experience and I even received a letter via USPS explaining that they report to the bureaus on such-and-such date, the reporting is accurate, etc. etc. etc.

Is our friend Federalist still updating this thread?  Looks like there is new information about Citi, BOA, Synchrony, and Comenity.

My Amazon does. Very annoying behavior, since i use it a bunch and the pif only works the first half of cycle. My solution to it was to have them raise my credit limit to a crazy high level thus preventing any util issues. I had never seen this behavior either prior.

Not to my knowledge, no. It would be great if they did since i use that card if i need a quick cash float, but once the advance posts, it takes a full month to go away if the timing was bad. I have never asked them if they would update however.

Re: Credit Cards that Update with Zero Balance Mid-Cycle

I can certify that AECB and AEFSB does not have the capability to perform mid-cycle bureau updates under any circumstances.

I am not sure if those "mixed reports" may be referencing bank-issued American Express cards?

I have to update this a bit, apparently it doesn't work with some or all Chase Co-Branded call, I recently paid of a large balance on my Chase Southwest card, no mid-cycle update. so more data points are needed for chase co-branded cards. But it absolutely does update for Freedom and CSP

Chase Amazon does report a zero balance mid-cycle.
