Credit One?

I know about them but they sent me a pre approval for $2,000 and a $40 AF. Should I take it or leave it? Because I could just use it to garden with and then drop it

Re: Credit One?

You may get more responses if you posted this in the credit card forum. Not sure how to have it moved though.

I see you were approved for Discover, Paypal, and Cabelas. In my opinion, I wouldn't bother with them and just build with what you currently have.

I'm sure more people will come and add their suggestions as well.

Re: Credit One?

I wouldn't pay them $40 for the privilage of borrowing money from them unless you really don't have any other options as you're establishing credit. I'm not against AFs, but only if there is a rewards benefit or something to justify it.

Re: Credit One?

I accepted a $1k card from them to help build credit. When things improve I may cancel it but at this time I am thankful to have the credit extended to me.

This is a generous offer from them, I got much worse.

I had their CC for almost two years, because I felt I needed it.  I had a low SL of like 450 and the AF was more like 79, and it was taken out monthly.

They offered me small CLIs like 250, but I had to pay a fee of 25 to get it.

They always offered to let me choose a new design for the CC, for a fee.  Always offered to let me add an AU, for a fee.

They have very high APR and no grace period on purchases.

I always pushed the payment from my bank's online bill pay and always 3 days early.  They charge a fee to let you pay by phone.

They are wholly owned by the Sherman Group, one of the largest and most unpleasant CAs, one of them is LVNV.

I used them very carefully and very cautiously in my rebuiliding and I was very happy when I closed it.

yeah I really don't have much choices at the moment. I want to keep them long enough to get a Chase credit card, a BoA credit card or a Barlayclard credit card or a Cap1 VentureOne. My objective is to get a travel card.

Re: Credit One?

If you already have a few cards, credit one isn't going to help you anymore than your current cards. Credit one will not help you get any of the cards you seek, scores will. Your scores will benefit from having positive TL's with a solid payment history. On a side note your approval is more than likely up to $2,000 sl, I have never seen anyone have that high of a SL with credit one. I'd pass.
