The bad news is that I found my way out of the garden. ![]()
The good news is that I KNEW that none of the "prime" nation wide lenders would issue me a credit card due to the number of inquiries I've got showing on my credit reports.
Following the wisdom that I've gained here, I applied for a credit card via a local credit union.
$2,000 Credit line.
The "normal" interest rate is 17.99, but they're currently offering 0 percent on BT for 12 months which is HIGH on my list of "why did I do this".
No, it's not Citibank, Discover, BofA...etc...but it's better than Credit One, Cap One etc...
Progress. ![]()

..................................................Congrats.................................................................!
BofA is constantly sending me preapprovals...but if I fill one out and apply, they deny me...
So I quit applying.
Maybe next year...
Alliant is sending me Preapprovals all the time. It's hard not to respond when you see the word "Preapproved"

Beware the BoA Constrictor.
I opened my first CU account(s) yesterday with Patelco CU. They have great loan and CC rates and a new customer CD that pays 5% APY...but you can only put a max of $1k in it and it's for 12 months
...BOO! But I also was approved for a car loan (1.99%) and a Plat VISA (10k) at 8.15%
. So now I can refi my VW to them and lower my interest rate. They are really pushing their loan products when you call CS which was kind of surprising. They were really easy to deal with and hopefully this will be a good relationship. My bro has been with them for a very long time and has been happy with their service.

The only big bank you mentioned that might hold a candle to the CU you just joined, might be Discover, so I think you did fine ![]()

I love it. I think it perfectly describes that bank.
