It was my first credit card 5 years ago. Always been at a cl of $400. I tried 3 times over 3 years to close it and they always talk me into staying for waiving annual fee.
I call today and decide the approach of saying I want to close but will stay if you waive the annual fee. Oh sorry we can't do that and she closed my account right away.
I was stunned because they always sent me to someone after I say I want to close.
I called back and payed the monthly fee with their automated system. Why do I get a feeling they're not done with me?
What, you paid the af? They played reverse psychology on you this time!
Yeah...I do the same thing....every time I see the fee, I ask them to waive it and credit me. I was told to do this by customer service. They also usually up my credit limit $200 as well. Once they did the same thing...said we can close it, and I said, can you transfer me to the account retention department and they said we dont have one, but I can close your account. I said I will call back and hung up. Got an email that my account was closed. I went online and there is a button to repoen account and I did. Then called back and was transferred to account retention and they waived the fee and increased my credit limit $200. So it sounds like it depends on who is on the other end of the line.
