Hello,
Would credit one let me transfer balance instead of closing the card?

Do you mean transfer FROM credit 1 to another card? They don't get a choice in that case. Your other card starts the BT process and Credit1 gets paid. Done
Transfer balance TO your credit 1 card is subject to whatever your agreement is with them. Pull out your Terms of Agreement and see if it said anything about BT. If not you're SOL you can't BT. You can also go to your online account and see if it's an option. Also you can call them.
whether or not you want to close your credit 1 (and many folks here think that's a great idea due to their predatory practices on those who are rebuilding their credit, but often it is the only card we can get) you don't say why or what's going on. Do you want to close it because you want another card? How many cards do you have/want? Etc etc
I was closing it because of the annual fee and because it does not increase the limit. And all the small little fees.
Including the Credit 1, I have 4 cc.
Walmart - Capital 1
Secured - Capital 1
Quicksilver- Capital 1

Will any of the other cards let you BT? If so, do it and close that sucker!!
Thank you! I will try to do so.
I dont believe the Walmart card can do bts. . Best bet would be to try the prequals of Amex and Disco to see if you prequal. Those are two excellent options to balance transfer.
I agree with Joe.
Run that credit card company as fast as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am. I got them when I started rebuilding my credit and they were the only ones that would give me a chance. Now that I am better state, I'm running fast.
Congratulations on your credit success. I can confirm the ability to transfer balances OFF a Credit One card.
Credit One is the last of my fee-heavy/rebuilder cards. I called to close it in February, as the annual fee is scheduled to bill in April, and a customer service representative issued a credit in the amount of the annual fee as an incentive to keep it open.
I hear their customer service apparatus is severely or completely limited at the moment, but this may be an option if you are interested in keeping the card open for some reason.
