Credit report - Thin file question

I got my first ever credit card (Discover it) in September this year, for which the first statement was generated in October. Discover claims that they report along with every statement date. But in spite of this I still have a "Thin file" on credit karma. I did read somewhere that Discover waits for 2 whole statement cycles before reporting. I also have a student loan which was approved last month.

Can someone let me know how long I may have to wait before I can have a FICO or a FAKO score?

Re: Credit report - Thin file question

6 months from the first reported balance with the FICO and you can get a FAKO score now. Credit Karma is crap. TU and EQ run 7-day specials all the time.

Starting Score: 565
Current Score: 721
Goal Score: 800

Re: Credit report - Thin file question

In order to generate a FICO score, you must have the following:

At least one account that has been open for six months or more
At least one undisputed account that has been reported to the credit bureau with in the past six months
No indication of deceased on the credit report (Please note: if you share an account with another person this may affect you if the other account holder is reported deceased).

Even with a FICO score, you still might be categorized as having a thin file if your history is short and you have less than 3 TLs reporting.

@09Lexie and @Rkalynsmith Thank you for your reply. I didn't know all along that FICO scores are only available after 6 months of reporting. I have to wait it out.

Re: Credit report - Thin file question

I just checked my Transunion and Experian scores. I have 698 (D) and 726 on each respectively. Somehow I am not able to pull up my Equifax file.
Can I please know when I should expect to see qualified offers? As of now I am unable to get any.
Also do student loan payments get reported?

student loans and their payments do get reported.

You can always keep checking pre-approvals to see if you're qualified for any offer.

It's hard to predict when, and if, you will get any pre-approvals. It all depends on the individual and also the card you're trying to apply.
