lol. from the looks of your sig i would say they should be scared. is there never a point where credit companies say enough is enough? How many cards do you want?

Everyone is able to juggle differing amounts. The fact that their ulilization is super low and the score is great, leads companies to know he's a safe bet. Barclays simply just doesn't give people a lot of cards in a short period no matter your score. What would be worrying to companies is if all of these cards had balances and were never being paid off or were just being shifted from one to the next. (Also just wanted to add that the signature is only showing 20 accounts. Some people have way, way more than that..)

How many cards do you want is a loaded question. Ideally, I'd like just one! One that has all of the features, credit limit, and perks of all of the cards I have. -- Sadly, we don't live in that world.

its not really all that amusing but its not my problem. there are signs telling you "enough".

I am not taking it tooo seriously, because of my situation navistar, I know I have enough....just suprised at the score vs. denial.

Congrats on your score! Smiley Happy I know you're happy. To me, it's a more of not right now but give it the standard waiting period and we'll approve you for the terms that you want then. Smiley Happy

Ok so 2 weeks ago I apped for the Sallie Mae card, I already have 3 barclay cards newest is US Air from this January.....Got my declined letter today.....According to TU my score is 822 (really happy about that!!) and was denied for too many inquiries last 12 months and time since most recent account opening is too short. I am actually shocked my score is so high. Lesson learned, it's not all about a high score with no baddies and paying on time!  So I will be laying low for the next 6 months or so!!

I've been saying this for quite some time and it falls on deaf ears. A score can be high with negative information or low with positive information. Inquiries and new accounts will bring a score down, but that doesn't mean the person shouldn't qualify for more credit. In the future, just ignore your score when you want to apply and just make sure the credit reports look good.

im not doubting your ability to pay these cards off, just looking from a lender's point of view. Just thinking you may need a new hobby.

Interesting that you see it as a hobby, I see it as "free money - points - status" for spending normally. And let's look at the lenders point of view, since you bring that up. I do pay - no bads, no lates, no BK, no ANYTHING ever, other than apply for cards they offer that give me rewards. Why the negativity on this, not getting it? Why would a lender look skiddish on my Credit History? Apparently they do, hence the denial, but I am not understanding the approval criteria I guess.

Thanks Kenny, I do have more accounts, they just dont fit in my sig....(YIKES! maybe about 4 more) I do agree with you about barclay "does not give people a lot of cards in a short time". And you are right in my situation, low util and not doing balance transfers from one card to another is a big plus for me when CCC review my CR for sure. I guess really I am surprised that when you have a great history with a CCC they don't always seem to trust you...I have had the iTunes card for at least 2001 I would hope Barcaly's does not think I would run up a huge bill and stiff them after such a long time, but maybe I am naive....

I think it's one of those situations where if you really wanted it badly enough, this could easily be overturned on recon line. Some banks like to have old TLs closed if you're wanting new TLs faster than they're willing to give them to you. Smiley Happy So if you don't like the iTunes, I'm sure Barclays would close that and open up the SM if you wanted it badly enough.

I mean, I look at it like this.. Barclays knows what your CR is like and kinda knows what card you should get if you are approved for something. They don't want to simply extend you an "approval" for a $500 Sallie Mae card just because you've applied for the card. Maybe that's a skewed way of thinking, but it's just how my mind operates at times. lol

Do you actually use the iTunes card? Are there good rewards on it? (Just curious as I've never had it.)

I know and it really isn't that important to me (although 5% on gas on the SM card is awesome!!) This whole post was not about me being angry or upset just - surprised that my score was that high and I was denied..no harm no foul and I do understand now from what ALL of you are saying I have to cool down on apping, I get it. And thanks guys/gals for the input I appreciate all of it. Now for the iTunes card Kenny I would NEVER get rid of it I love the card and I don't think it is offered anymore...you get like 5 points per MAC/itunes purchases and 1 for everything else. At 2500 points you automatically get a $25 iTunes gift card, it's cool. My kids order movies and music so we get ALOT of iTunes gift cards!!!!!

Oh cool! Yeah, I hate to purchase anything on iTunes so that card would not interest me in the least! lol I do end up getting iTunes gcs on sale from paypal a bunch though. (20% off when they have their sales.)

I understood the irony behind it. It's interesting to learn! Thanks for your post!
