Currently have 35K on my Amex BCP but want Hilton Surpass Card

What will happen if I pull the trigger on the Surpass... will they ask for W2s, will they split my BCP and put it on the Hilton Surpass?

Thanks in advance.

You have a $35k cl or balance? If cl, for how long? Right after getting a cli  to $27k on bce, I apped Hilton card. Approved, but only $1k cl. I think I'd reached my limit with amex. I plan to ask for $3k at 91 days.

I have 35K CL, sorry... with zero balance. Ah, okay. I might just take some off top of my BCP and move it over if they do that over at Amex. I did that with cards from Cap1 when I got into the CC game years ago.

Ah!

That might happen. I had a similar situation where I started with BCP and they pulled some of my CL from there to put on my Hilton card. I ended up losing about 10K off my BCP, but gaining it on my Hilton card. I went from 25K on BCP to 15K, my Hilton started at 25K. They did not request any W2s. They just messed with my limits.

If you are not using much of your limit there is a good chance they pull some from your current card for the new one.

they might ask for bank statements or request you consent to providing tax documents from the irs, the most likely occurance though is that they'll either just give you more credit or they'll gracefully pull limit from your BCP, you won't have to do anything.

you'll be able to move limit between the two accounts though so you can get the desired split of limits between the two after a month or two with the new card though

they wouldn't have given you $35k if they weren't confident enough in your income/profile/spend

if it's a card you want, I would just apply, good luck!

Re: Currently have 35K on my Amex BCP but want Hilton Surpass Card

As others have stated depends on your profile with Amex and usage of the limit you have currently. I had $30k on my Amex everyday preferred and $18k on BCE and $5k on the bussiness plus and when i apped for the Charles Schwab Investor card a couple weeks ago they approved it but took $5k from the EDP to open the new card.

I wasn't bummed as I really haven't been using the EDP so i transferred all they would let from it to the new card and plan to close it eventually.

The more that I've looked around and did some homework... the Surpass card really isn't that great. You can definitely get creative with the card but not worth it.

Still want a Hotel card though, lol.

Why do you want a hotel card? I have the Hilton card since 2016 and still have it. I only got the sub once and had opportunities to get an upgrade to surpass when it was $95 and 100k points but couldn't hit 3k in 3 months so I pass, then another time for 50k for 6 months but I never activated the email offer and even tho the offer didn't expire during the time I wasn't able to activate it cause the link expire after sometime... anyway I'm looking to get the amex blue cash now.

The Hilton card doesn't provide any value at least for me even in 2016 besides the sub. I got it I guess cause it looks nice and was from amex. Idk why I waited so long to get rid of it but whatever the amex bc offers didn't change much until like 2 years ago so still new. And I got it for the reason of hotel cards too, like I collect hotel cards for the FN but Hilton doesn't offer that until you get the $550 one. I would think hard about it man, find a card that you would use ongoing.

Totally agree. I posted this right when I first saw the card and asked... then did more homework and will be going the Marriott route.

I'm definitely not just shooting for a card just to have a card. I'm going to be playing the hotel card game for cool stays and other fun perks with my kid.
