Cycling through cards

Would either of these methods of credit card use be better than the other?

1) Spreading charges among 3 cards every month (for example $50/$50/$50 on three different cards and paying them each off every month)

- OR -

2) Charging $150 to one card, paying it off, then using a different card for $150 the next month.

Or does it not make a difference

Re: Cycling through cards

depends on the cl and if you will pif before the statement cuts

ex 150 on 300 cl = 50% bad for fico

other than that i think the fewer cards that report w/1-9% uti is the fico ideal.

Re: Cycling through cards

As long as you keep your util under 10% it does not hurt your score. Also leave balance on less than half the number of cards. If you have a total of 8 cards leave balance on no more than 3 at a time and on each one a max of 10% of the card CL. It is a trick. Once you start using, you'll get used to it.

Re: Cycling through cards

Nice... thanks for the info on the trick. I new and was under the impression that the more I charged to a card and then PIF every month, the more credit I earned. Now I know better.

It's a question of pleasing two entities --FICO likes to see low or no balances, and the CCC's like to see lots of charging. As long as you pay your cards down or off before they report to the credit bureaus, everybody wins!
