DCU Visa ...

So I finally went and joined DCU by donating $10 to the Reach Out for Schools thingie and opening their savings account with $5.

I'm looking to transfer a couple of balances from 23.99% cards to their card since they offer lower rates and no balance transfer fee.

I have my member number, but no PIN or any other materials. Should I try to apply for the card now or should I wait until I get everything?

Thanks.

Re: DCU Visa ...

Do you need a PIN to apply? If so, maybe you can call them and they'll tell you what it is.

I'm not a member of DCU, so I'm unfamiliar with their CC apps. Smiley Indifferent

Re: DCU Visa ...

If you manage to find a way to get your PIN, please post a follow-up.  I too recently joined and it looks like I'm stuck waiting a week for a letter before I can log in to access my checking account funds.  I searched the forums here and didn't see many posts about this.  Somehow I don't think they're going to just give it out over the phone.  (I bet they would if I was going to apply for a juicy loan though!)

Re: DCU Visa ...

Yes, you do have to wait for the pin to come in the mail. According to DCU the pin is randomly generated by their computer and no one at DCU knows what it is. I would recommend waiting until you get your pin and can set up your online account before you apply for their card.

I just joined about 2 months ago and I love them, I have since refinanced my truck through DCU, got their CC, and now use them for all my banking.

Congrats.

Might as well wait until everything is settled, You should get your pin within a week! Smiley Happy

By the way, You should try to deposit at least $500 to your savings... the 3% APY on first $500 is awesome. Smiley Happy

Re: DCU Visa ...

No problem! I didn't bother putting more money into the savings account, Just wanted to take advantage of that 3% APY. I do have a $10 transfer from my checking account at bank of america to DCU savings each month though, So it is adding up, But check this out...

Even with $5,000 in your BoA Checkings, You would never see this type of dividend.

It doesn't seem like much, But it adds up.
