applied for discover more online and recieved a congratulations youve been approved pending further verification. has anyone received this message and then been denied during the "further verification '" they gave me a number to call in the am but im nervous about calling because i dont want the embarassment of being told it was a mistake. if i do get this card im closing my 2 hsbc cards (discover and BBMC) . what do they want when they say further verification? thanks in advance.
Congrats! They may just need to verify your mailing address. It could be that it is different than what was reported and what is listed on your credit report.
What are your scores? any baddies?
hi, my tu is about 665-670, i have 2 old collections which were both paid several years ago. eq (here) and experian ( psecu) is about the same. i thought my scores would have to be much higher for approval.
When DW changed her name and address last year after we got married, Chase approved the app but put an anti-fraud/verification hold because the name didn't match the CRA files.
I think they accepted faxed docs for verification.
Anyway, its most likely an address or name match issue that can be corrected by faxing a few docs over.
EDIT: Added mention of address change as well.
called discover yesterday, they just asked some general questions and i was APPROVED FOR 1500.00. im so excited, thanks for all the support. im a worrier by nature.. if my feet and legs didnt hurt so bad after 2 12 hour shift i would do the happy dance.![]()
It's a good card. I mainly use mine for the 5% seasonal rewards and pay in full each month. The main rewards on the Discover are rather pitiful (0.25% for all other purchases until you've spent at least $3000 (before you eventually get the standard 1%). The caps on the 5% rewards are also ridiculously low. However, I like my online card access. Clear and simple! A good card to have in one's portfolio although probably not "the" best card out there.I think it's a more pedestrian version of the Amex Blue Cash. And I mean pedestrian rather as a compliment in this context (Amex's perceived "higher" status... blablabla). The APR on my Discover is horrid (18 or 19% if I remember). Not a good card to carry a balance on. But then, the purpose of rewards cards is to get rewards and not to have huge balances on them as they rarely offer great APRs.
Congratulations!
