Yep, they do regular soft pulls on mine, and from time to time they have increased the limit to its current $25K. I've never requested a CLI on any card, never had any desire to because my balances never get anywhere near the limits.
Like others, my soft pulls are as listed in my report as "First USA," which reflects corporate mergers: my Visa card was originally First USA, which got acquired by Bank One, which in turn got acquired by Chase. My checking account was first at Connecticut National, which got acquired in succession by Shawmut, Fleet, Bank of Boston, and currently is Bank of America (not long after that last merger was announced, I happened to pass one branch at the very moment when a crew was putting up the new signs out front).
A friend from church used to be a programmer with Southern New England Telephone and recalls the comments in their payroll database were a comprehensive history of bank mergers (stuff like "RTN 123456 changed from [name of local bank] to [name of behemoth]" ), and she herself got laid off when SNET was taken over by SBC which in turn got swallowed up by AT&T so she went and got certification as a high school science teacher since she figures THAT job won't be shipped off to Bangalore or Manila any time soon.
My own industry -- pharmaceuticals -- has certainly seen its share of mergers, and rumors that my company is about to get bought are so frequent that I've quit paying much attention to them. Longtime employees say the merger that formed our current outfit came as a total surprise, and they learned about it by seeing a new sign out front when they drove in one morning.
