Data Point on Citi PC

Just in case anyone needs the info now or a datapoint if searching the forum in the future.  While I like to be a lurker and don't post much, I wanted to tell you all I tweeted Citi customer service, they responded within 2 minutes asking me to DM them my phone number.  I did and they called within 5 minutes.  Less than a 2 or 3 minute phone call later, I had successfully PC'd my citi aadvantage gold visa to an HHonors Reserve card (I also have the citi exec aadvantage so didn't need both for AA miles).  Couldn't have been easier and I was very impressed with the responsiveness of their customer service/social media team.

Thanks for sharing.  Citi's CS gets a bad rap sometimes compared with Chase and Amex.  So far, I have pleasesantly surprised with my interactions too, albeit very limited.

Re: Data Point on Citi PC

I got the Diamond prefered about three months ago because I was planning on putting some dental work on it and taking advantage of the 0% for 18 months, but the dental work wound up costing more than I thought so I took a loan against a life insurance policy to pay for it instead.  Since I don't need the 0% that's still on the card I called in to see if I could get a PC to something with rewards.  I asked for the Dividend card...  They told me they could not do it because the intro APR was still in effect.

I run one charge a month through the card just to keep it active.  I guess I'll wait for the intro APR to run out next year and try again?  I have no idea if it would be worth calling a different number or not.

For the most part, they won't PC if there is a promotional rate on the card or if its under a year old. Wait and then call back when the rate is over. At that point you'll get the card you want.
