I got my fancy box 2 days after I was approved and just yesterday, I got a second card in an envelope. Chase clearly wasn't prepared for the hype.
Maybe, but they also weren't prepared for the obsessed people that called multiple times to have their cards expedited that resulted in duplicate shipments. Works both ways.
Agreed. You could thank a certain forum community for that, and I don't mean this one lol. They are notorious for breaking the internet (and apparently banking systems). I won't lie though, I called in for an expedited card, but only once because they gave it to me on the first shot. (it was also early before everyone hopped on that wagon).
I know what you're talking about. Despite my post I don't have a problem with those that called once to have their card expedited. But it was those that did it multiple, with emphasis on multiple, times (and there are some here that did that) that caused many of the problems. That ended up causing delays for many people awaiting the card.
I apped Monday the 22nd, evening time. Should have had it on Thursday the 25th but UPS lost the package. Called Chase Friday morning and they overnighted a new card to me. Recieved on Saturday the 27th. I did get the "fancy" box as well.

The fact that UPS lost the first card that was sent to you is very concerning.
That card is missing and active - up to you (and I hate to say it now that you finally got the card), but I would kill that card number and get a new one issued.
I app'd on Friday evening and just got the UPS notice for delivery tomorrow. Looks like they're clearing through the backlog. (Original estimate was 7-10 business days.)
Has Chase been sending out tracking numbers? I app'd on Monday and leaving for a trip Friday... probably won't get it in time even though they said 1-2 days on the phone... requested rush delivery... :-(

It's Chase's problem, not the cardholder's. If Chase is stupid enough to send out already activated cards, they can pay for the fraud and do whatever preventative measures on their own.

I applied 8/22 and got the card 8/25 after requesting for it to be rushed. Card came in a nice box. Got another ups envelope package on 8/27. Only a white envelope. I have two cards now
Different dates for me but otherwise ditto.

I called the Freedom number and they were able to give me the UPS tracking number. No alert from UPS (I guess it wasn't a match because the middle initial) and it arrived the same day I called, but no fancy box.

Your post isn't going to stop those that are going to call like that.
