Database of inquiry limits

Is there a database of what CCCs have typically had as a limit of inquiries when apping?

What CCC?

Limit of inquiries?

In what time frame?

Seems like it'd be useful before going full tilt on an app spree. At least one would know what order to go in.

Thoughts?

Re: Database of inquiry limits

This is going to be very different depending on the profile.  If a database did exist, I can't imagine that it would be remotely accurate.  We've had posters at (or near) 3-digit inquiries per bureau that still get approved for new credit, many of those from lenders that may list "excessive inquiries" as the primary denial reason for someone with a short/thin profile.

There's no database but the Doctor of Credit website is a good resource.  You can start with 25 Things Everybody Should Know About American Express and at the end of the article there are links that describe the rules at other lenders.

Meanwhile, app sprees are a bad idea.  Building credit is like drinking alcohol.  It's best done slowly.

I wouldn't do an app spree as other's have said. Select a few cards that you are interested in, see which work best for you and then narrow down a list of ones that you want, check DPs to see which CRA was pulled, this way you can plan/app accordingly.

Re: Database of inquiry limits

Best thing to do yet, garden for a while to allow existing inquiries to age or even drop off, then select - as recommended above - a few cards that you really want that fit your financial way of life and the things you want and/or need, and apply for those.  I was quite active last year to the point of being in an app spree last summer, have slowed down quite a bit this year, and am now in a full-on gardening phase that I intend to push out to at least New Year's before app'ing for more cards, and even then I really don't intend to obtain more than 2-3 new cards in 2019 and may close at least one card in compensation, depending on what my overall credit profile looks like at that time.
