Date Opened on Credit Card Accounts Incorrect

Hello, I'm noticing the "Date Opened" on two of my credit card accounts is not correct. One shows it was opened in Feb 2006 when I've had it at least 2 years prior to that. I believe this has something to do when a card is reported lost or stolen it resets the date. Yet the old card #/account is not on my report at all. Of course this is only affecting my two CapOne cards, naturally. This is playing havoc with my average age of all accounts. -K

Have you called Cap1 and spoken to an account specialist or supervisor?

If it were me, that's what I'd do first. Only my opinion.

I've had headaches getting this corrected by dispute, but they were other issuers.  Same situation, you are not alone.

I suggest calling or writing (or both depending on how the call goes) Cap1 to see if they can sort it out on the spot for you.... and then taking it to dispute at a later time if you have to.  

If writing, use the Cap1 addy that appears on the CBR.

I'll give them a call, I keep their nasty cards in my drawer at home I'll have to go on their word since I can't go back that far online and see my original statements. We'll see! Thanks guys, -K
