Did a recon today because her denial letter stated she had to many inq's....So we ( my daughter & I) must have had a brain fart because she said that my daughter applied 2 months ago for the same card ( and yes we feel stupid) and the reason for the first denial was no credit file....so the first app was done BEFORE I added her a joint on my Secured CC. She told her this and that now she has a credit file with 1 CC with a 1,000 CL with 13 month history and no lates. She was super nice and said she could pull it again but what they are looking for is for her to have a CC in her own name and not a acct with a Joint Owner. How does being joint have any less impact that being the sole card memeber. Seems a little silly to me. She is just as repsonible for that card as I am since she is Joint.
She did get approved for a Credit One with a CL $300.00 I guess she has to start somewhere.
Id look at Discover and Capital one.
if she gets approved at those 2, cancel that new credit one before you even pay the fees!
Give it six months or so with the Credit one and give it another try. At least she finally has a start! Congrats to DD!

How many inq's? What TLs are on your DDs profile?

6 inq 1 of them for a auto loan. The only trade line she has is the Joint acct with me. CL $1,000. The Credit One was just approved last night and isn't reporting yet..

Thank You...yes i suppose thats the only option we have. I can't understand why a joint acct isn't given as much weight as being the sole card member...for them at least. Crazy!

Instead of Credit One, I would go with SDFCU secured - does not graduate . Better terms and no hp. Let that age for 9 mos and she will be in a better position to add another TL
