After I got the C$R, I decided it was time to reshuffle the Chase card deck.
Current Chase cards are:
C$R
CSP
JP Morgan Select
New Chase cards:
PC'd CSP to Freedom Unlimited.
PC'd JP Morgan Select to JP Morgan Reserve. I am neither a Chase Private Client nor a JPM Private Client, which I found interesting since I dont have several million dollars under management with Chase that the JPMR allegedly requires. The CSR explained that the JPM Select will be eventually be PC'd to the CSP in the next two months for everyone who still has the JPM Select.
My plans are to ditch the C$R in a year (after getting the SUB on the C$R) and transfer the CL to the JPMR. Although the C$R and JPMR have pretty much the same benefits (JPMR slightly better) I want to keep the hidden TL that the JPMR provides.
While talking with Chase, I asked for a CLI on the new FU and JPMR and the nice lady on the phone said I got the 7-10 day message.
Your experience makes me wish that I had kept my JPM Select open, but I closed it some years ago. But congratulations on being able to exploit this
Can Confirm. I've had the Select Card since 2012. I called and asked for PC options. Was told I could change to CSP CSR or JPMR. Only card I have with Chase and am not a CPC client.
From what I've read elsewhere, and through conversations with Chase CSR, this practice will end in the next few months. I'm feeling lucky I found this loophole. Hopefully others who still have the JPM Select can take advantage while it lasts. Otherwise you're going to have to be a JPM Private (CPC not allowed) client with millions under management. Anyone who holds on to the JPM Select will allegedly be product changed to CSP, or maybe C$R automatically.

What is the AF on the Select? I think it was $95 when I had it. Unless they give a CSR at the same AF (which would also be nice) I would guess the more natural conversion is CSP

AF was on the Select was $95 (which Chase CSR told me he would apply to the new JP Reserve). The AF for the JP Reserve is $450, just like the C$R. But there's a $300 annual travel credit which further knocks down the JP Reserve annual fee. If you use that $300 credit (which include parking fees among other things) you could end up paying $150 a year for the JPM Reserve. Not a bad deal in my opinion.

Oh, I agree the JPM Reserve is a great choice. My point was that automatically converting JPM S to CSR with the 5x AF probably wouldn't go down well, as some people may have no interest in the travel credit. Converting to the CSP keeps the AF the same

And you get United lounge access as well right? If so this card is a steal.

Correct, Priority Pass where available as well.
