Declined for Citi Diamond Preferred AMEX

Citi turn me down because  "  A delinquent credit obligation, either paid or unpaid, was recorded on your credit bureau report" .  Does this mean I am permanently banned or will the reconsider once I get my  TU score above 650?

Citi is very particular about the charge off and paid charge offs that happend with in the last 3 years. Try doing a GW to creditor and see if they would remove it from your CR.

It's most likely not about the score being under 650; the reason is probably the one they gave.  You are not permanently banned, however.  They only take into account what is on your reports at the time you apply.  So once the delinquency is no longer reporting, they won't even remember it used to be there.

When you say three years, does that mean three years from  the time of the chargeoff or does the fact that I paid it a year later reset the date for them?

Re: Declined for Citi Diamond Preferred AMEX

Most likely from the date it was reset. Keep in mind most of the approvals are done by computer now a days. You can always call and ask them to reconsider. There could be several other factors they look into in the approval process. 8 months ago I could not eve get a secured credit card. I have cleaned up my credit file and today I have several prime cards with very good credit limits. Start cleaning up your credit report and start improving your scores.

Re: Declined for Citi Diamond Preferred AMEX

I have one paid collection from 05 and a handful of late 30 day late payments from 2 years ago. My utilization was at its highest, and I have very limited credit history. So when I applied I was well below 650, but was approved for 2 of their cc, one for 3k, another for 2500. But I applied earlier in the year, and from reading other posts it seems like Citi was doing high approval rates at the time. It may also be the particular Citi card you applied for that also has higher standards. Now that I write all the negatives down I wonder what the hell Citi was thinking when they approved me. :/ Message Edited by Lyyssa on 04-04-2008 09:08 AM Message Edited by Lyyssa on 04-04-2008 09:09 AM
