Declining a cap one cli

I've read before that sometimes when u decline a cli from cap one that a week or 2 later sometimes They come back w a higher offer. I can't seem to find that thread. Does anyone have any experience w this? Did u actually decline the increase or just exit out of the page. Does declining reset the clocI'm k? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Declining a cap one cli

Yes I have both declined the increase and exited out altogether. What are they offering you currently? Here's one link to a recent post:

Re: Declining a cap one cli

I just exited the page in late December, I'm waiting for the 20th which is a few days after the statement cuts to press the button again, hoping they offer more.

Re: Declining a cap one cli

There have been people who have declined the increase and offered a higher one later on. On the other hand there have been others who received the exact same offer as before or even a reduced offer. There is no standard and there is no trick. It's a crap shoot and no one can say for sure what will happen by declining and waiting. This isn't a negotiation, it's a request followed by a granting or denial of said request. The main determination of your offer depends on your income and  your charging and payment history, not a random spin of a magic wheel. Good Luck with your CLI.

Re: Declining a cap one cli

@creditguy is absolutely correct. I'd like to add the following:

By declining a low cli now, let's say $150, you're not resetting the 6 month clock on your next request. Instead, you're attempting to buy time by declining the current offer. Use the card heavily and PIF. When the statement cuts, anecdotal evidence suggests you will be offered a substantially higher amount sometime between now and statement cut. This assumes your profile hasn't changed for the worse when cap1 last SP your report.

If they are indeed only offering you $150 cli, and assuming you use the card on a regular basis, my gut feeling is you're requesting a couple days shy of the 6mo mark. Check back every couple days and see what happens

Re: Declining a cap one cli

I was offered a 1000 to bring my qs1limit up to 3600. My qs was due for cli in December and was increased by 3000 to 4800. I just left the page. I recently lowered my total util to <15%. Hopefully when that reports I'll get the bigger increase offer. Thanks everybody.
