Dell showing on TU as closed when it's not!

I received the following alert on scorewatch

The following changes were reported for your CIT BANK/DFS account:-
Comments on your account changed from Charge , Amount in H/C column is credit limit to Closed or Paid Account/Zero Balance , Charge , Amount in H/C column is credit limit , Pd/Closed

And now it seems that on TU that account is showing as closed with a closing date of Sep 2010. EQ still shows the account as open! The account is in fact open and I just used it this month. It seems like Dell does not issue a statement except when there is activity on the account. So they sent me an email now saying my statement is ready. Should I wait for TU to update status or should I dispute?

Thanks

Same here...so I called Dell and they updated the TL as 'open' on all 4 (big 3 plus Innovis per their follow-up letter response via US mail) just a few weeks from when I called.

Based on your post, it is reporting closed on EQ too. SW only monitors EQ.

Don't dispute. They might delete. Call them as the prev. poster suggested or wait for the next statement. Per FICO scoring, once the TL reaches $0 and reads closed, as this is, then it is removed from FICO scoring (utilization). So, that may or may not hurt now. On the flip side, if you aren't applying for a mortgage or car anytime soon, then you are OK.

Didn't CIT have issues and were they continuing to do business with Dell? If Dell went with another company, it would report closed if it is CIT that does the actual reporting.

Re: Dell showing on TU as closed when it's not!

It's no longer CIT, it has been Webbank for some time.

It is not reporting as closed on EQ. Only the comment field has changed but there is no closed date while on TU there is now a closed date.

Re: Dell showing on TU as closed when it's not!

I'm suprised that you still have a DFS/Cit bank TL. My account changed over to Webbank sometime ago. Prior to webbank, Cit bank made the same mistake as you have referenced. I would not dispute, but I would call and get it fixed. The day you see "Webbank" report I bet there won't be any open./closed problems. I have not had an issue since the TL name change.

Starting Score: 682 EQ, 663 TU
Current Score: 687 EQ - 705 TU on 7/18/10
Goal Score: 700 + both EQ and TU
