Re: Delta Reserve AMEX

I got one by email today, as well.  I'll have to look into it when I get a chance later this evening.

At first glance, it looks like some sort of hybrid Delta Skymiles/Amex Platinum card, which could be pretty cool in my book.

Re: Delta Reserve AMEX

Ack!  $450 AF!!!!

It does indeed look like a Delta-oriented Amex Platinum card, but it's a revolver instead of a charge card, yet it still has the Platinum-sized AF.

Cheese,

Ack ack ack is right!

Glad to see you found the info on amex's site.  I searched around Delta and only found the press release type statement.  (I really just wanted to see how the card looks!)

Looks too spiffy for me!

Re: Delta Reserve AMEX

HA!  HahahaHA!

I, yes *I* got one of these emails today, too.  I just checked my email and BOOM there it was.  I'm thinking the letter should have said..

Dear Ms. Peas,

We would like to thank you for letting us tolerate you as one of our premier deadbeat customers.   Because we appreciate the fact that you pay your 11.99 credit card balance in full every month, we would like to officially invite you to apply for a card that we don't plan on giving you.  That's noticably different!  Blah, blah, blah here's your offer code.  And as a side note, we would like to inform you that it's not necessary for you to keep requesting an increase on your existing limit.  We don't really trust you with the whole 1000, but because we need to uphold our sterling reputation, we had to give it to you.

Respectfully yours,

Mr. John Q Amex

PS - We're only offering this new card because we had to come up with an innovative way to afford our newest deadbeat airline partner, Northwest!  We hope you understand and will convince others to pay the $450 annual fee!

Re: Delta Reserve AMEX

ROFL!  Nice.

I do think it's interesting, though, that the email had instructions on how to accept the offer.  I'm not sure if that means we'd be accepting the offer for the card or accepting the offer to apply.

I'm not sure I want to find out.

Still thinking about this one.  I have Amex Platinum on my radar screen for January 2009.  The benefits of this card are limited to Delta, unlike Amex Platinum, but the upside is that you still get the double Skymiles on everyday purchases, which the Platinum doesn't have.

And 10,000 MQM miles right off the bat is kind of nice.

Hmmm.....

Like I said, mine is an invitation to be denied.  I'd swear it.  It's so funny that it's the ONE thing that has tempted me since my app-vacation began.  (No, I'm not going to app for it, but I can't wait to hear the results of the people who do.)

Re: Delta Reserve AMEX

Fine print regarding the bonus miles:

If you already have or had any other Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express Account(s), you are eligible to receive only the incremental difference between the Welcome Bonus miles offered herein and the amount offered with such other Account(s).

So I guess since I already got 15,000 bonus miles with my Gold Delta Skymiles card, I wouldn't get any bonus miles from this one.

Cheddar,

That's a sign that you shouldn't app.
