If Im understanding the article correctly, for Amex platinum, if you spend 75k this does not apply and visits are unlimited then. Is this correct?

Got it, thanks ! Luckily this will not effect me.
Amex  really should come out with the long rumored card in between platinum and centurion instead of making spend requirements on platinum though.

Well reserve still gets companion for FC fair so it's still a keeper for me, avg fair has been well of $1K.  Between flying Delta and American I'll have 16x for Sky Club between Reserve and Plat should be enough.  We still use a fair amount to the coupon book, 5x air, and FHR that Plat has, so also a keeper for us.

Times are a changing with the higher cost of doing business for everyone.

Delta is defining  a "SkyClub visit" as 1 visit every 3 hours at 1 airport

That's fine by me.  I usally go direct and my home airport is an escape lounge (Amex) or BOS and mostly catch lounge a on my way home or connection if I have one.  All my out going departures are early morning, other than international, so there is little time for a lounge stop.

I've learned to go early out and coming home I'm less concerned for delays that may happen as the day goes on.

Re: Delta makes drastic updates to Sky Club.

Gone are the days of how many miles you fly with an airline, now it's down to how much money you spend on them. I thought this was an interesting read.

Re: Delta makes drastic updates to Sky Club.

Yes, as far as I understand, $75k in spend on the Delta Reserve or AMEX Platinum card will open up unlimited visits to the Sky Club.  I'm thinking the spend may be better on the Platinum AMEX card as that opens two free guests to the Centurion lounges with each visit and unlimited Sky Club visits for the main and all additional Platinum card holders on the account.

My parents thought I was a crazy spendthrift as a college student working a summer job in the late 80's when I purchased a lifetime Northwest World Club membership but that converted into the no longer offered Delta Sky Club lifetime membership, which provides Executive membership level privileges of two free guests with each visit and continues to allow access to the Sky Clubs at the airport regardless of airline flown-- ie I have used the Sky Club while flying on Southwest, United and American tickets.

Re: Delta makes drastic updates to Sky Club.

exactly!  the only reason i'm keeping my delta platinum is because of of the companion ticket.  Even with that, i'm less thrilled about the card.  I can use my amex gold MR points for skymiles.  With both cards having a $250 AF, the companion ticket now only makes sense if the cost is over $500.
