It's been a while since I've posted on here lol. About 3 months ago, I received an invitation to apply for the discover it for students. In late January, I applied and was denied for these three reasons..
NUMBER OF INQUIRIES IN THE LAST 24 MONTHS
INSUFFICIENT HISTORY FOR BANK REVOLVING TRADES
NUMBER OF INQUIRIES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS.
I just received a second invitation to apply.. I'm not sure why this is being as though I was recently denied for their card.
Should I chat with a rep about this?

Talk to Discover recon. I'm sure they'll get you approved, especially since it looks like they want you to apply. Make sure you have a good excuse for all those inquiries you have in the last 6 months.

I agree give them a call and see if you can recon the denial. Good luck!!
I forgot to mention that a couple of days after my denial, I called for recon twice, got two different reps, and they both said they couldn't grant me anything. Still call?
Invitations to apply don't mean anything. Most of the time they don't even look at a credit profile to mail it out. If it says "pre approved" or says something about how to opt out, then they looked at the credit report.
The mailings lists are usually generated months in advance. So even though you were just declined, you may still get more offers. The marketing department and credit department also usually don't communicate with each other, which is why getting those offers does not mean you will be approved.

Ahh, I thought when you said invitation you meant you had a preapproval for the card. I would try recon and keep begging them even for a starting low limit. Tell them how much you want the card and how it will benefit not only you but them as well!
