Alright, so i paid off my First Credit card that my CU gave me when i turned 18 That Account was Closed due to some problems with payments and such back in 2009 they never reported me late or deliquent or anything at least to TU and EQ, idk about EX. I recently applied for 2 credit cards so that i can keep my credit report with one Revolving account, I applied for Amex Blue and Citi Forward, both said they couldnt approve me due to my credit history. im assuming my length of credit or something. idk what ecperian has on there report about me,
so ive chosen an alternate route cause im tired of the inquires that are gonna appear on my reports now cuz i was denied by those 2, a bad credit credit card, you know the ones that approve you though you have fair credit haha, well i looked and im kinda looking at the Orchard Bank Visa Card.. what do you guys think about that? or can you reccomend any to me that. i would have gone with a credit union credit card but like i said i already had one and it was closed so i dount they would like me back in there systems haha.
Thank you in advance
Why don't you pull your EXPERIAN report? You are entitled to a free Credit Report once a year from all 3 CRA's. Go to annualcreditreport.com and obtain your free report and see what is on it. I wouldn't purchase the score offered as it isn't a FICO score but the report will let you know what is reporting.
You can always join another CU. Orchard is okay to start with, Cap One may also be a choice, and if all else fails just get a secured card and build some history.
thank you for the advice, but actually.... i did go to anualcreditreport.com and i did pull my credit report earlier this year prolly in February but i dont remember what was on it cuz i didnt have a printer or such and i went through alot so that was farthest thing in my mind to remember so i have to wait to see it or buy the report. which i was gonna do but they are offering some sort of 1$ deal which automattically enrolls me in a triple advantage and i have to cancel the membership within 7 days which seems like a hassle just to see a report. but i applied for Cap One in march this year and was denied so what i want to so is somehow build my credit up and i dont wanna join another CU ive been with mine since i was pretty much 4 years old ![]()
Does your current CU offer a secured card? I know you said you had a CC with them and had some payment issues, but maybe they can give you a second chance with a secured card instead. Its possible that you can bring an updated credit report to the CU and have a LO take a look at your report and pre-approve you before pulling a hard INQ.
Also, when you join another CU, you don't have to necessarily close your account with the CU you have now. I know quite a few on here and other credit boards that are members of multiple CUs. I'm a member of at least 5 credit unions myself. It seems like you do lack credit history, so I would definitely look into a good CU that offers a secured card or even a Cap One secured card.
Really...?
A brand of cereal I can understand but business is business. If my CU shut me down like that...my money would all be gone the next day and my direct deposit moved elsewhere.
You are not limited to one CU. You can join as many as you want and there are several good ones you can join online as well.
wow 4 realz, well id take a trip thru that Orchard in the mean times yo
how old are you now?
