Did Amex blacklist me?

Hello. So I have been trying to get back in with Amex. Closed my Amex ED no af card in February 2016. Had opened it in April 2015. It had a 7k limit. So my apps keep getting denied originally it said to low of a fico. (At the time my Fico was 698 a few months ago) Now it is in the 720s. For Ex. But my most recent denial was excessive inqs. Yeah I know I have a lot but I had way more when I got my first one. This is very frustrating not to mention my income is double what it was when I had the first one!

I have no experience with Amex, but why not just kick back and lie low for a while and maybe see if they eventually start pursuing you? Let some of those inquiries drop off and forget about Amex for a little bit and maybe they will surprise you.

Re: Did Amex blacklist me?

Are they pulling your report? If there giving you legit denial reasons then they probably don't have you blacklisted.

Why did  you close the ED card?  My ED card I hope to roll the limit over to my BCP.  So much is happening lately with credit and Amex has had some set backs recently with losing Costcos, JetBlue, and Fidelity that they maybe are tightening up on approval criteria.  The only thing being thrown my way from them is a second Platinum card and while I can afford one $450 annual fee, my budget doesn't stretch to a second one.   You have a great score, so maybe the INQs are factoring in getting the approval.

Re: Did Amex blacklist me?

They can't send me legit Pre-Quals until I am 21 in 3 months.

Re: Did Amex blacklist me?

I imagine one wouldnt be blacklisted unless you burned them in bk, ala me, or had a charge off. You know you are bk if you apply and they dont even hp you. I just get a generic letter knowing my sentence has not been suspended yetSmiley Wink

If that is the case, then give it a couple more months and you might see some changes happening.

One would think AMEX would loosen up their requirements after losing so much business in such a short period of time.

From what I've heard AMEX doesn't care about INQ's that much, so that probably isn't a factor in my opinion.

Re: Did Amex blacklist me?

So agree MDV! For all the supposed business they lost you'd imagine they would look for additional revenue like MEEEEESmiley Happy Ah but thats the way the cookie crumbles. For those of us who iib , we dug our own graves and got to lie in them Smiley Wink but it a shame they dont give a second chance sooner as some of us did make honest mistakes and learned from them . Heck, im just getting on board with PIF so if they wanted dome extra swipe fees and interest id be perfect with my carrying the occasional balance haha lolSmiley Happy

Maybe a year ago they weren't; that's when I got my first approval, but given that a lot of factors might point to another credit crunch in the near future, it doesn't look good to appear that you're a credit seeker, especially if you have average income and average scores.  Those with great scores and great income will always get approvals.
