Re: Did Amex do a change on CLI declines

I would say you could ask via chat, although the CSRs are very friendly they don't seem to have access to a whole lot of knowledge. Let us know what you find out. I am planning on doing 180 day CLI early too so we shall see what I get when that goes down.

Edited to add: I do have other AMEX cards, at the time of the early CLI I had a Business Rewards gold which had over 25K, maybe even over 30K on it that month. It was also a new card, so maybe that had something to do with them approving the early CLI on my personal everyday card. I have a personal Platinum now too.

Re: Did Amex do a change on CLI declines

Well I spoke with someone via chat..... wasnt much help at all. They basically said I was misinformed by the other CSR's and that because of the denial prior, I have to wait 90 days..... I am going to check some other sources.

Doesnt make any sense at all. First denial is automatic (pre 60 day is the reason stated)  and now second denial is automatic (denied within the past 90 days) because of first denial.....which means my credit profile/payment history is not even being evaluated in either denial....

And the CSR via chat tries to tell me that nothing has changed...

So, here is the update......Nothing I can do........ They have gotten rid of the 60 day wait period....... Thats why people are getting the early increases, they are no longer considered early....Gotta wait until March for the 90 days

Re: Did Amex do a change on CLI declines

Wow. Well thats certainly an eye opener. Think I may wait a couple extra months before my first attempt so my profile looks a bit better given this news Smiley Sad Sorry this happened to you OP but thanks so much for the update.

Re: Did Amex do a change on CLI declines

Interesting. There have been several users who recently were told they attempted a cli too early and when they re attempted, they were approved.

If this is a change in policy, we will see more 'early clis' being reported.

Re: Did Amex do a change on CLI declines

If there has been a change I want Amex to get their stuff together bc either this person is completely unaware of the change or the representative Yodah spoke with was incorrect. I had to fudge a bit of information to get my answer but here's the chat conversation from a few moments ago, havent made an attempt yet. Think I'lll still wait a couple extra months and be on the lookout for reports from other members here about their experiences. Replaced the name as Im not sure we're allowed to use the reps names in messages here

_______: Hi, welcome to American Express online chat. My name is _______. I'm here to answer your questions and help with your account. How can I help you today?
you: Good Morning ______
_______: Good Morning! (smile)
_______: How are you doing today?
you: Smiley Happy I'm well how about you?
_______: I am fine too
_______: Doing pretty good this new year!
_______: Thanks for asking
you: Great! Happy New Year to you!
_______: Happy New Year! (smile)
you: I was wondering if you could please help me with American Express' credit line increase policy as I seem to have requested it too early based on the letter. I thought it was ok 61 days from the date I applied which was Oct 13th so I tried around late December. But I wasn't approved for the card until Nov 12th so Im not sure how long I have to wait before the next attempt
_______: Oh! It's 60 days from the card approval, let me check your account
_______: Am I chatting with _______________?
you: Yes you are! Smiley Happy
_______: Your card was approved on 11-12-2014. So you can place the credit limit increase request after Jan 12 2015
you: Ok I thought that might be correct but here's where my confusion stems from. I called about this and the representative told me your policy has now changed and that theres no longer a 60 day wait period at all so any denial would mean I had to wait an additional 90 days from the early attempt. Is that not correct as far as you know?
_______: No that's not correct! It is still 60 days, you can surely apply after Jan 12 2015. Any attempt before your 60 days would be invalid and not considered as your first attempt.
_______: However..
you: However??? lol
_______: If you apply after Jan 12 2015, that will be considered your first attempt and if that is not approved..
_______: You will need to wait for 90 days from then.

Re: Did Amex do a change on CLI declines

Thanks Heavenly.

Hopefully OP will try again with Amex.

Eta: Using the date calculator, the policy is 61 days not 60 days. Smiley Sad

Re: Did Amex do a change on CLI declines

My 61 days isn't till 1/18 but I'm half attempted to try now just to see.  I'd hate to get declined and have to wait another 90 days but something is screwed up in their system with these early approvals
