So I was curious and called JPM on back of my Ritz card.

Facts:

1) Existing card members will be upgraded before the end of month to Infinite card.  They started on Wednesday of last week

2) Existing card members are grand fathered into $395 AF

3) Existing card members will get the additional perks such as extra 100 hotel credit for spa/food, 100 dollar companion pass on airfare,  more renter car coverage, new lounge access etc that infinite version contains

So if you are on borderline of applying and wanted the Ritz I personally would apply like today for the 395 version still on Chase's website before the 450 version is permanent so you are grandfathered in to the 395 AF.  You will get all the perks of the 450 version through for the life of account according to the JPM I spoke with.

Hope this helps all with more information

Thanks for that info CC. So is the fact that existing card members will be upgraded to the infinite an indicator that having the infinite will not require a 15k minimum? considering all Ritz card holders will be upgraded, even if they dont have a 15k limit. Or am I looking into this wrong?

From what the banker told me, even if your Ritz has a CL of 5,000 you'll be ok with switching. Your card has to be a year old at least because the annual fee is going up.

The AF isn't going up for existing card holders...  You are grand fathered in.  So you will be getting the infinite and do not have to request it.  With that said it might be different for people less than 15k CL's whether they get auto-upgraded before a year(although I believe it is across the board), but she made it clear I was being upgraded and not paying anymore AF on anniversity date, etc.

I sent a message on twitter to request it. I like line jumping. XD plus, the boxes they send cards in are fantastic for shipping certain items on ebay (like books). Talk about getting your money's worth.

Re: Did anyone see this? Ritz now marketed as Visa Infinite?

UPDATE:

Response from chase:

"Thank you for your patience, Jared. I have reviewed the account, and it reflects that your card automatically upgraded earlier this past week. New cards will be sent when the current ones expire; however, your existing card can still be used. ^DW"

I asked if my card would automatically be enrolled in visa infinite benefits, as my card doesn't expire for another year and a half. Waiting on response to that. Really, I'm just obnoxious and want a card that says visa infinite. Smiley Tongue

I wonder what will happen if I ask for a replacement card.

Update 2:

"Yes, you will receive the Visa Infinite benefits. We base your benefits off of what type of card you have listed on your account. ^DW"

Confirmed... Just got off the phone regarding mine and this is what I was told.

Additionally, they will pay the Global entry in addition to the travel credit instead of using the travel credit towards it.

Upgrade to the Priority Lounge membership (the one you get with platinum amex)

Trip delay is only 6 hours now and you get $100 unlimited.

the downside... doesn't sound like you can get a new card as of right now... they are sending them when your card renews (mine doesn't until 4/18!!! Smiley Sad

Re: Did anyone see this? Ritz now marketed as Visa Infinite?

says they will send stuff out to the existing cardholders that are being upgraded starting Aug 15.

I'll try for a new card after I receive that info if they don't auto send it... I can't believe they would upgrade accounts but not upgrade the cards... if they don't upgrade the cards they can't get free advertising for their new product!

I've already checked out the visadiscountair site, and my card # does work, and allows me to book with the $100 rebate.

Update 3: Just clarifying from another staff source Smiley Tongue

"You are very welcome. No, you will not be forced to pay the $450 annual fee. You should be receiving an email which outlines all of the new benefits of this change. However, you can try visiting http://ritzcarltonrewardscard.com for more information. ^DW"

Thanks  Just tried, mine works also on http://visadiscountair.com/ritzcarltoncard.  My card is only 6 months old with  $14,100 SL (has not had any CLI or combination).  Damn, I might need a new card next month as this one is sure to get bent and no longer swipe.

Re: Did anyone see this? Ritz now marketed as Visa Infinite?

Glad everyone is hearing the same thing.. If you want the infinite card earlier although they said mine was being mailed sometime this month you can simply call and say you lost your dog chewed the card up and brooth her/his tooth while doing it and your replacement will be an infinite.. I would wait until next week to do so..  It is a win-win for those those already have the Ritz at 395 AF.. As stated if others want better benefits might want to jump on the 395 af version vs. 450 fee to be grandfathered in.
