Ah, thanks for the response! What rubbish. Look at me all the while walking around thinking I had an AMEX.

Thanks for the advice credit addict
You don't think I should wait for an auto CLI, then contact EO? I think the original strategy isn't so bad?
I am afraid of having two brand new cards to drag down my overall AA. My Chase card is 7 years and the Dillard's Amex is 5. The Chase I closed was a 5 year old card. Yikes. But there was no way I was keeping that card around if I could still access the credit limit for a lower APR through a transfer to another Chase card.
Why wait for something that you could probably get now... plus just because you get it now through execitive office doesn't mean it will cancel your auto cli if you get them... Never hurts to ask for them to give you a higher limit then you currently have on chase so you can make them your primary bank.
You might go get an even higher limit with Amex and then who cares to all of them! lol jk... I would still ask for the higher CL to match or beat chase.
and get the increase on dillards.
That is great advice in regard to Capital One!
Now IF I try for Amex I will wait until this Cap One card finally shows up on my CR so it will show I have more credit availaibility. That way my initial balance would be favorable.
I doubt Dillard's will give me an increase. I remember requesting through a reg CSR and being denied about a year or so ago. I will more than likely have to go through EO (if GE does that).
Do you have any contact info for Capital One's EO? Is it more effective to email or call?

"Credit Solutions" in the backdoor numbers thread that you can find at the top of the thread.
this year is FAR different then last year... every 4 statements with GE backed cards... it's always a SP... always ask, always click, always call automated system! do both sometimes, person and online!
I'll private the email for cap1... just send simple... I applied to replace my chase and you didn't even match the credit line.... want to see if you will beat it and give a number ($10k?) they will counter... so I like to go high!
Did you get the rewards you wanted? ask for them too if you didn't
be sure to put your account number and your contact phone number, they will probably call you monday.
if you got $3k out of capital one, I think you are good to go on amex now... i really dislike capital one and that computer system never seems to give any good credit lines.... so $3k instant from them seems high to me.
Thanks so much for your help. I agree I don't like the credit limit offered from Cap One considering my Freedom was 3.5 k and offered to me 5 years ago when my credit was much younger than it is now. I am very interested in AMEX. However, I may start a new thread because I have recently received a Discover It offer in the mail and I would love to see what is better between Discover and AMEX. Plus I still have major researching to do see exactly which type of card I want (such as Amex green versus BCE).
Do you think it matters I had a balance transferred to Cap One while requesting an increase? I am aggressively paying right now.

Take the Discover it offer and don't apply for green, take the gold free for a year with the bonus and then PC down to Green at renwal for AF reduction if you want.... but if you need grocery's and stuff the blue goes much further for you reward wise and also has a bonus.

The Gold or the PRG?
Sorry, PRG
I prefer BCE though unless you are looking to push some decent money through this card.
