Yes you are correct. I just got an email from dillards for confirmation. The reg. dillards AX will not increase your CL, but I believe the Elite Dillards AX eventually will. Just got to be patience. The Executives are still handing out bonuses for themselves, eventually, the CLI will triggle down to the little peeps (us). I will get the Elite Dillards next year...and a couple of yrs down the road, I am certain we'll be seeing $5k CL from Elite Dillards. It's not a great card...but it had no AF and it's all good to me since my family shops at Dillards. Spend $5K through the Elite CC and there's vacation perks, etc.....

The credit card has nothing to do with Dillards anymore... it's just another GE backed card! Good luck seeing 5k from GE (I don't need 100 responses now telling me you have over 5k on other GE cards... I know they do exist but it's not the norm... especially for Dillards. Care credit... yes, Sams, yes, dillards, no!)

5-10 yrs ago, anybody can get a $5k CL with a score of 660 above. Banks are more cautious now. They want to see your entire credit history, spending habits etc...before they give out larger CL. I believe once I get my score up above 750, util under 15%, and PIF but a small balance on the card (less than 5%) month to month, I can get $5k plus from GE without a doubt. I have $8k plus cards right now, just got another $4500 card last week, but Dillards AX only gave me $600. GE are very cautious and I don't blame them. Take care of them, build trust and they will take care of you down the road IMHO.

Exactly. Everyone's credit situation is different, and what makes a card "good" or "bad" all depends upon how it fits in with that person's credit portolio. I'm very happy to have this card at this stage of the game, as it suits my needs. It sounds like it should work out well for your family, too. Good luck with it!
i have one started out with 1400 3 years ago and now i am at 10 k yeah you have to spend 2 g a year to get elite and if you spend 5 g you win 3 different vacations you can choose from.

Not to call you out, but it's very hard for me to believe you went from $1400 - $10K on a GEMB card. As far as vacations for spending $5k through the card, you are correct. This is going to be my main swipe card now, Chase no longer gives me a CLI. lol...I am going to build this card up and see what I can get in 1yr (CLI).
is the vacation a free vacation all expenses paid or what is it
its true i have been paying very large payment and been building over the last 3 years with this card they have been very good to me the only thing i dont like is they always hold my large payments i always have to call and have them release the hold

I don't have specific details on vacations...but they are paid once you spend $5k through the card.
Just had the Elite Amex card mailed to me without knowing it was coming. I've had the regular Dillard's Amex since December. I guess I've been spending a lot at Dillard's, because I barely use the card outside the store. As for CLIs, I started at 800 and it jumped to 1700 after a few months. About to PIF a 1300 balance at the end of this month, so I'm anxious to see if there's another CLI bump waiting ...
Cool info about the vacations--I hadn't heard about that. Anyone have any more details on that?
As for GEMB credit lines generally, we have a $5000 line at Rooms-to-Go (which I need to use some of because it's been a few years and I don't want that overall-utilization-helper to go away!). ![]()
