Hello friends! I was approved for a Disco cc yesterday with a 4k SL, I want to know what the best way to use this card is in order to get good Cli? Those who have it, tell me how you use it and what you spend every mth? Do they like heavy usage or can I pay a bill once a mth and get by with that?
I opened my Disco card up June 2017 with $5.5k SL and put a $5k BT on it from a high interest auto loan. I was running $100-$200 through it each month as well and paid usually $2-300 per month. I got CLI's to $6k, then to $7.5k and finally up to the $13.5k in April where it stands. All with a BT balance on it. I paid it all off last month and and just app'd for a second IT card last week, approved for $15k.
I don't think there is a formula for this. My path was a little unorthodox but it has worked out well for me.
There isn't a formula for Discover. Just use the card and PIF. What works for one person's credit profile to raise the limit won't necessarily work for yours!
I also opened my Discover IT for the purpose of a BT a couple of years ago. I also took advantage of the 0% for purchases for awhile. Now that the intro rate has expired, I don't use it for more than BT. I have carried a purchase balance and only made the minimum payment. I have also PIF each month. I have requested CLI twice since opening and each time I got a $1,000 increase- not much but my utilization was higher.
My advice is to use it once or twice a month and PIF. If you carry a balance, make payments that are larger than the minimum and you'll get a decent CLI.
Thanks for the replies, I dont want to mess up like I have in the past, I want to show good usage and PIF every mth.
I dont think you should worry about how to please Discover's computer
Use it in a way that works financially for you.
Dont overspend, pay on time and wait for the magic to happen
I have never had much trouble getting a CLI (given it's the proper interval) from Discover. My general advice with growing your credit lines is, be patient. I mostly use them for the 5% categories, and sometimes for Discover Deals.
I'm sorry but did anyone else read the title of this thread and start hearing ABBA playing in their heads or was that just me?
