I don't know why I even have this card anymore. Makes me like $5 a year if I pay attention to the categories

Same. It's a $12K limit though and my oldest active card so it's hard to let go of.
It has no annual fee. Keep it!

3 of my 5 oldest cards are currently 5% quarterly rotators with no annual fee. I will hold on to them as long as I possibly can. Beyond the age benefits, I normally find each to be useful during a couple 5% quarters a year.

I have 26 cards at the moment. It's too much hassle to keep all those cards alive when I use between 6-9 of them a month for specific reasons. It was alright when I could reload a $1 on Amazon but I'm finding myself less interested in doing it now that's it $5.

I have like 12 opened now..? I'd hate to have double that. I'd love to close several but they all get used, which means each one only a little for their particular benefits.
PenFed is SDd. Amazon when I don't have 5% fuel restaurants.

Understood. What a horror.
In your situation I'd keep my two oldest no AF cards active. Then maintain use on another 6-10 useful cards with high CLs and sock drawer the rest. Let those suckers close from non use in 1-3 years vs actively closing them.

Ew, no. NEVER let an issuer decide to close a card on you if you have the option. You don't want that note on your credit report. MUCH better to have "closed at the client's request".
Disagree.
The comment section has no impact on credit score. Furthermore, an account closed by creditor for inactivity carries no negative connotations.
The above being said, actively shutting down non value add accounts does eliminate the possibility of fraud on those accounts.
