austinguy907, I could totally understand it if it was for a basic CC. But when you're talking about 50K CC CL's I think the lenders would be absolutely crazy not to request and/or require POI. To be upset that a lender would require this at those CL's seems crazy. I'd be willing to bet that most applicants inflate their income somewhat, and some inflate their income substantially. At the very least, I'm certain most error on the high side and not the low side. It's human nature.
I don't think people really get "upset" when asked for POI, many just opt not to do so and stick with whatever limit they have. For some it's not worth the hastle and giving up more personal information than they feel is acceptable. I've never heard of someone saying "I can't believe this creditor won't grant me a $50k limit without POI!" - most people are understanding of this. Some provide it, some don't and are content with staying where they are at without POI.

How strange, Discover was always one of the stingiest with CLI. I went up from about $12k to $20k in 2011, which required talking to a CSR and a COI and hard check, and then up to $25k a couple years later, which required a hard check. I think the actual limit was suggested by me and then they approved it. Never knew they had a CLI button either. I would like to get it up to $35k just to match my other highest limit card (BofA cash rewards). In a way it means that your Discover account on your CR is no longer is a sign of credit worthiness that it was before since they were so careful about increasing limits.
The presense of a Discover account on your credit reports today isn't any less of a sign of creditworthiness than it was 5 years ago. The state of the account is far more noteworthy than the simple presense or absence of it.
Congrats
I would just like to thank everyone for posting infromation and experiences with Discover on this thread! I haven't posted here before but I have kept up with it since I opened my Discover It card. Today makes 91 days with the card so I called for a CLI and went from $3,000 to $6,000. Thanks again for all the infomation!
I've had my Discover card for a few years now but it's always been a low limit ($1250) because I was a college student and didn't have much income and also had one derogatory mark on my CR. Yesterday I got an email from them saying that they had given me an increase of $1250 to $2500. I was pretty happy about that since I hadn't gotten an increase in over two years! After reading this thread I decided to hit the luv button today and received an automatic increase of $1500 to $4000!
Thanks guys and keep hitting that button!

You mean this one? --->
I use the Calculate Duration Between Two Dates online calculator to find the date exactly 91 days out, starting with the "Date Opened" found on Credit Karma's TU and EQ credit reports. I've calculated the next ten CLI request dates. Yes, I'm a bit OCD!
Wish me luck on 9/28/2016. (fingers crossed)
