I'm currently chatting with a rep on the site. Specified I don't want a HP, he said he would let me know if they had to HP and I could deny it. Decision went to an analyst so I have to call. He said they would give me the option over the phone and that they will never call customers when this type of CLI is requested, I have to call. No big deal.
Not sure what this will tell people about Discover and CLI... First card reporting on File. Opened 2/13 $700limit, SP to $3500 8/13, SP to $7500 3/14 (I asked for 10,000) they countered $7500 or a HP if I wanted the 10,000. still only 1 credit pull on file.
These were all call into number on back of Discover card and ask the first rep that answers.

Just a follow up. Called the hotline, expressed my desire to stay hard pull free. They were great about it. Took maybe three minutes and the rep came back with a $4,500 limit which was increased from a $3,400 limit. Just an FYI, my balance on the card was $3,316. My overall utilization is around 65%. 2 year AAoA after app spree 7 months ago. I told them I wanted the highest limit possible but didn't specify the amount. He said that would give me the best chance at avoiding a HP. They asked me some general income questions etc and gave me my new limit. Not bad for 5-10 minutes of mindless work.
I tried the luv button and got this message:
We're Sorry.
Your credit limit increase request cannot be processed at this time. For assistance, please call 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683).
I didn't enter a speck of information, just clicked the button and that's what I got. I've had this card for about 9 months, got a $1500 CL initially, and got one auto-CLI about 1 month or 2 ago up to $2000. This is my lowest CL right now, so is my best bet to get a SP CLI to call them?

I called and they said since I just got the auto-CLI in July, I had to wait 90 days (October) to request one -__-
Not sure if I'm going to keep this card past the end of the year if I don't have a lot of luck on a CLI with them. Doesn't seem like they're the greatest when it comes to CLIs or big CLs in general. I don't know if it's worth watering down my AAoA for a measly CL.
They are pretty tough to get for me too! So far, my $750 CL went up to $1000 (auto luv) after 9 months Discover does not like me although I'm glad they gave me a card back when I had a really thin credit file.
If you got your card when you credit wasn't optimal it will be a while before discover will give you a huge CLI or CLI at all. It's up to you if you don't have patience to wait for sp CLI or not. There are definitely other cards out there

Yes, that there are! I might give this one the axe by the end of the year if they don't bump me up to $5k at least.
For me discover serves its purpose, the biggest thing I like about discover is shopdiscover they have some really good deals on cash back if you shop online, I can live with slightly lower cl
