I don't have a Discover but I believe startin maybe 1-2 years ago they had a CLI option through the automated system when you called in before getting to a rep... you could type in an amount... thinking 10-15% above current CL and it either gave it to you or said we have to transfer you to rep.... it was always soft unless the rep told you I can't offer based on account performance but I could pull a hard and possibly do it...
I'm not sure if it's different for business accounts but I have spoken directly to underwriting, maybe try to escalade to that so someone can go over your credit report with you and solve these confusions of collection accounts etc.

You can try that, if you don't get it through the automated system, you're going to have to talk to a rep and that will result in a hard pull. If you aren't planning a mortgage or car loan in the next year or two, why not try for it with a hard pull? They are good on explaining everything and are reasonable if you have a reason to need a CLI.
The automated system just denied me, they didn't transfer me at all. I have talked to reps before and they denied me too and just said they could do a hard pull. I just dont get how getting a hard pull would increase my chances of getting an increase. I am not planning on getting any loans in the next year, so maybe I will try it with a hard pull a few months down the road. I am just scared itll be declined too.

Hard pull increases your chances because they can get more information about your credit history. I'd get that supposed badie cleared up on your CRs/with Discover before you try. Also, what does the rest of your report look like?
Discover is conservative. They did raise my limit from $10K to $15K after about 2 years. I did not request an increase. My interest rate with them is 18.24%.
Are you carrying a balance? If so, then that certainly is part of the problem. I suggest you PIF every month and see what happens in a year or two.

Does the Automated system Hard Pull for CLI over the phone?

They will only do a hard pull if you continute with a CSR after the automated system says no.
Has anyone had the automated system say yes? I am just curious to whether they are really hard to get soft pull increases with.
I started with a 1000 CL in May or June and was bumped to 1350 2 months later. I have used the full amount and paid it off before the end of cycle both times. Maybe they know i would spend more if I had a larger limit, I logged on and saw 1350 and was shocked. I had the same 500 from capt 1 for over 2 years now!
I called Discover 2 days ago to inquire if a customer initiated CLI request would result in a hard pull or soft. The rep informed me that it would first be a soft pull and if the system kicked it back simply based on your score, they would move to a hard pull but only with your permission.
