I have a Discover More card and decided that I want to have the Miles card since I started traveling more lately. They said they will give me a new account number. Does that mean I will lose the history on the current account. One of the negatives on my credit reports is always the length of credit history but I can't change my age. This is my oldest account and don't want to lose those 8 years and have to start over. Should I wait until I buy a house this fall then switch the accounts over?
And ask several times - I got caught at my CU, so I got a new account with history transferred over, whcih is pretty much like a new account with no history

Since this could potentially mess with your mortgage rates, if there isn't some overwhelming reason to change, I might hold off. You wouldn't be the first person to be told that everything would be fine, and it wasn't. Although Discover does seem to have a better grasp of how to do things right.
