Re: Discover Card Which one & when ?

I just got the letter today from Discover saying welcome to Dicover Card. I knew I was approved anyway from there website. Here is more information. They pulled Fico with a 657 credit score and the other source was from Trans-Union. I live in New Jersey.

Re: Discover Card Which one & when ?

You got a physical letter with your scores?

I'm in New Jersey too. I guess I should be expecting mail within the next day or two.

Re: Discover Card Which one & when ?

They just sent a letter saying I was approved. Nothing with scores though. I pulled them off of here before applying.

I put down $6000 worth of balance transfers. Don't know if they will do it, but, I can only hope. The only bad thing is this will probably re-bucket me. I had no recent HP's.

If you're history is at least a few years and you have clean reports....  I'm leaning toward them probably approving it.

AAoA = 8yrs

Oldest = 26 yrs
One baddie, 30d, DEC08

BUT:

Util=81%

High Balance (71K on last CR, probably more like 60K now)

Just took myself off of husbands CC's (was AU), should bring both those numbers better in the next month or so. Adding more available credit will boost util.  Agressively paying down debt. I have mostly premium cards. Just ALOT of debt right now. Without the debt I would have good FICO's. Smiley Wink

From that info I'd predict you have a good chance of approval with the BTers going through (IMHO).  I think my UTIL was around 70% when I applied. I told them on the phone it would bounce around a lot and most of it is with 0% offers.

@I had a hard time trying to decide the "best" amount of BT to request. Didn't want to put too much so the computer just laughed at me, and didn't want to put too little so I could maximize the 0%. (3% fee for 18 mos @ 0% is a no brainer for me).  I really hope this all happens. Hope for a generous CL too. Smiley Tongue

Checked this morning and a CL of $6500.  I wonder if it would have been less if I had not asked to BT $6000? Anyone know how these CL's work when you ask for BT's?

HUGE CONGRATS!!!

Yes, the BT request can influence the CL that's approved.

BTW... Told ya so Smiley Wink  (sorry, I just like saying that for good news lol)

Hey Ry, you think Citibank would tell me the same thing?

Starting Score: 693 TU FICO, 679 EQ FICO

Sorry Crunching,  I just spotted the above question (been busy lately lol);

Citi isn't a fan of higher UTIL or INQ's.  I'd have to say in my opinion, you'd be disappointed with the CL they would most likely approve  you for, if they approved.

They can really be like spinning "the wheel of CL" at times.  Some people have gotten 5k lines, a lot of people have gone through headaches even with good CRs and scores.

They sent my DM a pre-approved 21 month 0% offer stating a 5 figure CL (she's had Citi many times over the years and through things like Sears etc, always over 5k, always perfect payment history at least one card was over 20k before she closed it).  I told her it looked like a very decent offer for the promo 0% so I helped her respond online with the code. Came back with 1600$, lowest CL she's had in years.  Called and asked about it and they didn't seem to want to budge so just left it and used most of it for the 0%...  That was with scores near the mid 700 range, 2 or 3 inq's, around 35% util, perfect payment history of 20+ years spread over 24 accounts both open and closed by her.

I can't really recommend them anymore from what I've read. They're not as "wonky" as BoA has been lately, but they are really unpredictable about starting CLs. And I've read others mention how they can get demanding for a small approval.  However I have to say, a few have posted  how much they love them for the great CL they gave them (haven't seen a lot of that recently though).  Frankly, you got a much better company with Discover.
