My Discover Card and my US Bank card are both secured and they are about to hit the one year mark in a few weeks. What experiences do others have with their cards unsecuring? I would like to get my 1800 back between both of these cards.
My discover It card graduated at the one year and 2 weeks mark. I didn't have to do anything...I got an email saying I would be getting my deposit back in 7-10 business days.
My Security deposit was $200, and I got a $500 CLI. So I am now at $700.

Which credit report does Discover check?

When I was reading up on US Bank secured, I read they don't automatically graduate and that you have to request graduation.
This is correct. And to be considered for an un-secure, you must have no late payments, and not have gone over the credit limit on your US Bank card within the last 6 months.
I unsecured my US Bank card a few months ago. I'd had my card 2 years and, like you, my score had gone up by at least 100 points since obtaining the card and I never had late payments or went over the limit. I also had obtained serveral unsecured cards with good limits, all with perfect payment history. This was my experience:
- They did a hard pull of my credit just to see if I qualified.
- I qualified and was automaticlally sent the platinum Visa, which has no rewards.
- I had to call and request a CLI after getting the new card. They told me if would be another HP, but one never showed up on my credit report.
- I was denied the CLI and am stuck with a measly $500 limit.
I'm not really sure why I'm holding onto this card except for the fact that it's my oldest and it's not doing any harm. One day I may try to PC it to to the Cash+ card, but that will be another HP, and I'm not willing to pay that price just yet.
